A good start for theory, worth the purchase price just for the chord progression chapter alone! Hey guitar kid! Buy this and write decent tunes! Unlock the mystery of "What chord do we go to next?"

What a fantastic book. I'm trying to improve my theory-knowledge, and this book was just what I needed. Accurate, concise, and doesn't confuse you with needless jargon. You NEED this book if you want to learn the fundamental concepts of key, harmony, scales and arpeggios. What I love here is how it doesn't just give you a foundation in theory, it really does build on it and goes into every possible feature in a lot of (clearly explained detail), so it's definitely not just for people who have no clue about theory to begin with. Will definitely be buying more books from this author.

I'm currently doing a music theory 101 course, and this book covers the syllabus, AND goes further!
Great coverage of fundamental concepts, and all written in an easy-to-understand way.

Great book, but I wish it contain some more info on composition and arranging instead of buying the other series books. Apart from that It's probably the best theory book out there.
