Book Description

21 Sep 2013
Here in the UK we have a product called Marmite. It is a deeply divisive food, which you either love or hate. Those who love it, cannot understand how anyone could live without it - and of course, the opposite is true for those who hate it! This same sentiment could be applied to volume as a trading indicator. In other words, you are likely to fall into one of two camps. You either believe it works, or you don't. It really is that simple. There is no halfway house here! I make no bones about the fact that I believe I was lucky in starting my own trading journey using volume. To me it just made sense, and the logic of what it revealed was inescapable. And for me, the most powerful reason is very simple. Volume is a rare commodity in trading - a leading indicator. The second, and only other leading indicator, is price. Everything else is lagged. As traders, investors or speculators, all we are trying to do is to forecast where the market is heading next. Is there any better way than to use the only two leading indicators we have at our disposal, namely volume and price? In isolation each tells us very little. After all, volume is just that, no more no less. A price is a price. However, combine these two forces together, and the result is a powerful analytical approach to forecasting market direction.. However, as I say at the start of the book, there is nothing new in trading, and the analysis of volume has been around for over 100 years. After all, this is where the iconic traders started. People like Charles Dow, Jesse Livermore, Richard Wyckoff, and Richard Ney. All they had was the ticker tape, from which they read the price, and the number of shares traded. Volume price analysis, short and simple. The book has been written for traders who have never come across this methodology, and for those who have some knowledge, and perhaps wish to learn a little more. It is not revolutionary, or innovative, but just simple sound common sense, combined with logic.

More About the Author

Hi - my journey into the financial markets was prompted by a desire to make sense of the jargon filled replies I usually received when asking any financial adviser, the simplest of questions. Clearly they believed as a mere woman, I was incapable of understanding the complexities of the markets. This prompted my desire to learn, and since then I have been involved in every aspect of trading and investing for over seventeen years. Now at last, I have the luxury of time, to devote the next phase of my life to writing a series of books with one aim. To explain complex subjects and concepts surrounding the financial markets, in a clear and simple way.

I actually began my professional life, as an English teacher. However, English was not my first language, having arrived in the UK from Italy at the tender age of three. At that time I spoke no English whatsoever, and my first memories are of my little village school in Scotland where I grew up, and where I learnt to read and write, chalk in hand! Very old fashioned, but what a wonderful way to learn. Since then, I have never stopped talking! - well I am Italian and as I'm sure you know, Italians ALWAYS have an opinion on EVERYTHING!! Languages must be in my blood, as I also studied French and Spanish. I've now transferred the 'teaching gene' into written form through the power of Amazon.

I hope, that whether you are a trader, investor or a speculator, you will find one, or perhaps more, of my books useful in your own approach to the markets.

Kind regards

Anna

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book, everyone! 30 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a novice Trader, I've bought many, many trading books from Amazon in the recent past (136 to be precise), including at least four, specifically on 'Volume'. Indeed, this is my first review on all the trading books that I've bought.

Anna's book - 'A Complete Guide to Volume Price Analysis' is by far the best book on the subject that I've ever read. She knows her stuff and most importantly, knows how to impart the knowledge to others. The way she explains the subject matter, the analogies that she draws and the many examples that she gives, can, but only go to make you a better Trader, if you listen to her and practise what you've learnt from the book. Once you've fully read Anna's book and understood it, you will always be one step ahead of the game because you know what's going on in the market that you are trading. The signs given by price and it's other sibling (volume) would either prompt you to step aside and wait (instead of jumping in to take a trade and lose) or give you the green light to go ahead and take a trade with confidence, alongside the operators, and win.

I honestly think that this book is highly under-priced, considering the wealth of information that it contains. Personally, I'd have been too happy to pay 24.99 for it, if not more. Then again, it's up to the author to charge what she thinks the book is worth, if she's testing the market. In my eyes, it's worth a lot, lot more than she is charging for it.

One thing I know for sure is that there are very many rubbish trading books out there that are selling for far more, without any new ground-breaking information, unlike Anna's book. Many of those useless trading books are aimed at the new Trader (like me), with snazzy, get-rich-quick titles and full of utter rubbish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read the Book and Read the Market says it all 24 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Without a doubt the best book on Trading I have ever read. While trading is touted as being easy, the reality is,with the myriad of indicators , books, Youtube videos and websites, I like most people, have information overload and was one of the 95% losers.. Which one do I follow? It can be very confusing.

As soon as I started reading this book it became apparent that this book was different. It explained the rationale behind trading. Its common sense logic was compelling. Like everything something is simple if you know. But how do you learn so you know.?

I found the comparison to a wholesaler stocking his warehouse at wholesale prices and selling to the public at retail prices and how these market makers do this by appealing to the public's fear and greed via news media an ah moment - Market don't manipulate the market they manipulate people via the news to buy and sell on fear and greed and create the situation they want - know you know what they are doing you know what to do.

Many people are selling education like the snake oil salesmen of the old west - drink this and all your aliments will vanish - its a con. However, this this book is no con. It gives you the information and knowledge to understand what Trading is all about in such a logical and common sense way it gives you the knowledge and control.

The line "Read the book and read the market" is absolutely true. Obviously you must then go and practice to become an expert but with practice there is no reason why you should not do well - you will quickly go from apprentice to master. I was so impressed with this book that I have also bought her other beginners FX book as well to correct my understanding of the basics as well.

The content of the book is excellent, this is a comment on the MORONS AT AMAZON, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PURCHASE THE PAPERBACK BOOK VERSION AS THE ABOVE NAMED MORONS SEND YOU A GREY-SCALE BOOK (not much use when you have colour charts in it, is it? I've explained this to customer services and they seem to agree that if the kindle is in colour then so should the paperback book. It is the morons they employ in the fulfilment centre who trot out utter garbage such as the reply s sent to me on two different occasions.
QUOTE ONE
"We have an update for your Order No
This is a Print on Demand copy and as such there is no other edition available to print.
Frequently, these are produced from the last-surviving copy of a book, the original of which is in far-from-perfect condition.
It is not the printing process which is at fault, but the original from which the digital print was made"
QUOTE TWO
"We received update from our fulfilment centre team and according to them that we can confirm that only the cover is in colour and the insides are black and white, this is due to the item being MOD and printed within the FC on demand and our electronic files are in black and white."

The first quote is utter garbage as it has no relevance to my complaint, clearly this is a standard reply email and nothing more.
The second means utter garbage as who (outside of the fulfilment centre) knows what MOD and FC mean?

As the kindle is in colour, I very much suspect that the master files ARE IN COLOUR and that the above named morons are too stupid to know that to print something in colour it has to be sent to a colour printer and not a monochrome printer.
