Brown (essex) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)    I'm a new comer to photography and have read lots and lots of books looking for that something practical that will actually help, and this book is it I have already told 3 of my friends to go and buy, This book is really easy to read Explaiened in a language that is easy to understand, Damien gives you an insight on how he and Julie work together [which showed me the benefits of working along side someone at a wedding] He talked you through how he takes his photos and why they stand out from everyone's else. I can't wait for my next wedding so I can get out there and put some of the things I have learnt to practise, I will also be reading the book again because I'm sure there is more and more in there that you oversee on the 1st read, I've never wanted to go back and read any other book before [must be good] Enjoy and thank you Damien for an outstanding book. This book is by far the best I've read (and I've bought 6 from Amazon). It's the first that I've actually given to my wife and told her to "read this chapter". The reason that it's so good is it's a great mix of photographic hints and tips, great photos with technical data, walkthroughs of the wedding day, business and marketing ideas. Apart from the invaluable business advice and strategies there is a wealth of sound technical knowledge on producing a style and consistency to your work. The book itself is of a high quality finish with top class examples to accompany the text. I would say the principals laid out in this book are just as relevant to a portrait photographer as they are to a wedding photographer. Myself being mainly a portrait photographer this book has inspired me to aim higher and follow my ambitions but also to have a sound business plan at the heart of my business. The book also makes an interesting read following Damien's career from lighting camera man to top class portrait and wedding photographer. A book well worth keeping.
