This book is truly fantastic and every bit as good as parts 1 & 2.
The whole series is well presented and a pleasure to read & study.
This book concentrates on identifying chord tones and really thinking about which notes will sound fantastic rather than simply thinking about which notes will 'fit'.
I would recommend this to anyone who is series about improving their blues playing skills

A terrific aid to developing skills, techniques and guitar playing know how. Well written and logically laid out, I am finding this book great to work through at my own speed and in my own time. The Author has a knack for conveying the ideas in a clear, uncluttered approach which makes it a pleasure to study.

Overall a terrific book and highly recommended along with it's forerunners for anyone serious about developing their guitar playing to contender level. Thanks for writing it and keep 'em coming.

I bought this the third in the series of Blues Guitar tutorial books from Mr Alexander, just a couple of months ago, so I have barely made any inroads into the heartland of it as yet, as I am still working my way through books 1 and 2. I think however that the mere fact that I have completed my purchase with the final book in the series is testament to the confidence that I now have that I have found the author and the instructional material that is going to (finally) help me to make some progress in my pursuit of Blues Guitar happiness (namely being able to satisfy my own ears - being no different to anybody else in being my own harshest critic - with the notes that I play and the music that I make). The style is consistent with Book 1 - well-paced, informative without being patronising; basically, great stuff.

Joseph Alexander is producing very good guitar books, I have a number of them which I use for reference as opposed to working through them all from cover to cover. I use them all the time. I read on Amazon a review where someone was complaining about the quality of the examples in the books, I'd like to balance that by saying the examples are good when used in the correct context. In other words try them as part of your playing, not just in isolation when working through the book. Incidentally, I had a problem trying to download some of the mp3s initially, and I contacted Joseph and he sorted it out quickly and efficiently with absolutely no fuss. I would highly recommend the books of his that I've bought.

I have become a devotee of Joseph's guitar tution ever since I first purchased his 'Complete Techniques' book.
His first two books on blues guitar have moved my playing forward faster over the last few months than anything I studied previously. Number 3 in the series promises to deliver more of the same. Thoroughly recommended.

If you want to play blues guitar, then these three books are excellent! Book 3 introduces the Mixolydian Mode and the Minor Blues scale, in addition to the two pentatonic scales (minor and major) that are mainstays of the blues . There's also lots of advice on using the scales according to the chord being played: over chord changes as well as the I, IV and V chords). Each chapter has clear and lucid explanations and there are 128 audio examples and 10 backing tracks to go with the book that are easy to download from the website ([...]). So plug in that ole blues guitar, crank up the amp for OD, and get playing. Highly recommended.
