4.0 out of 5 stars The most inventive poet of the English Language, 26 April 2005

This review is from: Complete Poems and Collected Letters of Adelaide Crapsey (Hardcover)
Unknown by most Adelaide created a new form of short poetry ...the cinquain....this rivals the imported haiku and tanka form so popular nowadays.
Her poetic form however arose is from the heart of the English speaking culture and will be her gift to English literature.
Sadly her short life means there are so few cinquains to appreciate...but her legacy did live on in the short cinquains of the Scottish poet William Soutar who happily was more prolific
in cinquain and short 'doublet stanzas' that echo Adelaide's creation.
