TOP 1000 REVIEWERon 27 January 2014
I liked Bourne right since the first movie came out, quite a good story, some cracking action sequences and Damon is well suited to the role.

Picked up this collection having not seen the last of the series (Legacy)
In terms of quality (picture wise) this is a jump up from the DVD's (I have a few of the films on DVD discs) though as ever if you're happy with your DVD set then there is no need to rush out and get this on Blu-ray, but it's nice to see the action unfold in true HD.

Quick run down on the films included, no spoliers!

Bourne Identity:
First of the films is a good introduction with a more considered pace (some great action scenes later on though) Laying out the plot/story details for new viewers. I'm quite happy with this one as it's well directed and has the well known and very well executed mini car chase. I find the mix of action and story to be well done overall with a good balance, and probabaly the best film in the series. Action die hards might prefer the edge of your set Ultimatum overall. Both are very strong productions.

Rating 4.5/5

Bourne Supremacy:
Good continuation from the first, but I an not a fan of the Paul Greengrass "shaky camera" style it's overdone and I find it quite hard to watch the film as there are lots of shaky camera scenes and quick cuts in action sequences, whilst they add to the drama are used too frequently for my liking. I stuck with it as I like the series but it's quite tiring watching Greengrass and his OTT camera work. There is a good story in here, it just takes patience to get to it.

Rating 3.5/5, good film iffy camera work

Bourne Ultimatum:
This is better than the second movie for me, edge of the seat action sequences this really throws you into the fast pace quite quickly (few if any real breaks from action through the entire film), though some might feel the story telling has taken a backseat. Fortunate that Greengrass has toned down his annoying amateurish "shaky camera", it's far less annoying than the second installment. Not a film you can relax watching, but it delivers some superb action sequences and some great hand to hand fighting. The pace really never lets up, white knuckle ride from start to finish, if you're in the mood for action and thick and fast this is the disc to put on.

Rating 4.5/5

Bourne Legacy:
This was new to me having read some mixed reviews overall it's still quite a good film, it does add to the story overall and explains a few things along the way. Jeremy Renner fits into the main role quite well, Rachel Weisz as a supporting cast is quite good (though overacts at times) I suppose there will always be a "no Matt Damon" aspect and downside, it's actually not a bad film some good effects and action scenes, not quite up there with "Classic Bourne" but decent cast and good direction a bit better than I expected overall. More relaxed than Ultimatum similar to the first film in terms of story telling/action sequences.

Rating 3.5/5

On balance it's worth looking at for Bourne fans, if you're new to the series and you like action minus gadgets then this will work well for you. I've watched the films repeated times and they do stand up to multiple viewings. It is true that the action scenes don't really push any new directions, but the story is quite interesting and I like the series overall. In most respects a welcome addition to the genre that needed a bit of a boost with a decent story, and good cast. There are moments of madness and intense action, but unlike some more recent films the plot is strong and you actually do connect with the cast. Damon is sincere and very believable in his role in all the films.

If you have an interest in well developed conspiracy/spy type films, with strong but not unbelievable action sequences, then this series is recommended for new viewers.

TOP 500 REVIEWERon 12 April 2016
This is an excellent collection of films (although, at approx. £30 at the time of reviewing, rather expensive. Prices fluctuate - I bought these for £15, so look around and see if you can find a bargain).

The films are political action thrillers - and concern covert operatives, who are superbly trained combatants and assassins, working black-ops missions for the CIA. The first introduces Jason Borne (Matt Damon), and is in many ways a stand alone movie - and can be enjoyed in and of itself. The second and third are direct sequels to the first, and to properly understand them you need to have watched this first instalment. The fourth film, starring Jeremy Renner, is set in the same universe as the others, but is in many ways distinct and separate - and can be enjoyed by itself.

These films are big budget and high quality, and the Blu-ray presentation is very good. The movies are based on a series of novels (by Robert Ludlum).

The main theme concerns the illegal activities - spying, assassination - of nation-states. The US government has created a covert group of elite killers, who work alone and independently. Unfortunately, one of them is involved in an accident and suffers memory loss. So this unfortunate chap is targeted for assassination. He fights back, using an amazing skill set - which has been conditioned into him ... and, as the films progress, he targets his old employers who previously controlled his life. The forth film develops a similar plot, and is based on the legacy of Jason Borne.

There's lots of action - from fight scenes to car chases. It's a lot of fun ... Enjoy!

In truth, the latest Bourne is, in my opinion not anywhere as good as the original three. I have watched the first three many times on DVD, but have to say the Blu-ray version looks and sounds a lot crisper, making the watching experience more enjoyable. I was going to give only 4 stars as I feel the last episode wasn't up to the first three, but that would be me being picky - anyway, the fourth episode is good, it is just different. Maybe it is simply because there is no Jason Bourne in it!

Still, well worth 5 stars.

Doesn't come in a fancy box like many collections, just a wider version of the standard blu-ray box, but the contents are the main thing for me. I'm not going to describe the movies, I'm sure everyone has seen them already. The transfer quality is high on all the movies, good collection of extras for each installment. Excellent value for money.

Matt Damon is Bourne that is why Jeremy Renner's effort did not take off. Along with frenetic action sequences there are exotic locations. The series is like a tour of Europe makes a nice change from that dump LA. Okay so Damon is a short-arse but so are Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise being small isn't necessarily a problem in Hollywood - the camera can trick the eye and, in closeups with the female lead you can always stand them on a pile of telephone books. As I have said before the 'agency' guy called Vosen is unimaginably incompetent. That he is still employed by the CIA at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum beggars belief. Never the less, it's a worthy addition to your action movie collection.

Brilliant collection of top films which at the time also had the UV option available. I've watched all of these films multiple times and think they are great.

I already owned all of these films so my reasons for buying them was a little unusual in that I wanted the UV option so that I could put them on my ipad. In recent years airlines have become more and more budget and most seem to have taken away the entertainment options. A 4 to 6 hour flight can drag pretty badly so having the option to watch a film helps a lot.

For the price these couldn't be beat.

i am a fan of the franchise.
although as it progresses the storyline went from fast paced into something missing with the last installment.
Matt Damon really owns this role...too bad for the other no matter how talented they are people are somewhat already got imprinted.

but with the price i paid and the great delivery system i would buy more as long as the deals are good.
