As The Bourne Identity begins, a man who may or may not be Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is found floating in the Mediterranean Sea and is hauled onto a fishing boat. When the ship's doctor examines the unconscious castaway, he discovers two bullet wounds and an implanted device that displays a Swiss bank account number. With nothing but this code, the amnesiac Bourne travels to Zurich and gains access to a safe-deposit box containing a gun, thousands of dollars in various currencies, and valid passports from numerous countries--each listing a different identity. Within minutes, Bourne is on the run from a seemingly ever-present agency, relying on language and fighting skills he didn't even know he possessed. Offering $20,000 for a ride to Paris, Bourne gains the reluctant help of the nomadic Marie (Franka Potente). Meanwhile, the shadowy organization, headed by a tough-talking bureaucrat (Chris Cooper), sends numerous assassins (including the Professor, played by Clive Owen) after Bourne and Marie. As their situation grows more perilous, the two strangers struggle to find out who Bourne really is and why they are being hunted.

The Bourne Supremacy re-enters the shadowy world of expert assassin Jason Bourne (Damon), who continues to find himself plagued by the splintered nightmares from his former life. The stakes are now even higher for the agent as he coolly maneuvers through the dangerous waters of international espionage-replete with CIA plots, turncoat agents and ever-shifting covert alliances-all the while hoping to find the truth behind his haunted memories and answers to his own fragmented past.

The Bourne Ultimatum: All he wanted was to disappear; instead, Jason Bourne is now hunted by the people who made him what he is--a legendary assassin. Having lost his memory and the one person he loved, he is undeterred by the barrage of bullets and a new generation of highly-trained killers. Bourne has only one objective: to go back to the beginning and find out who he was. Now, in the new chapter of this espionage series, Bourne will hunt down his past in order to find a future.

The Bourne Legacy introduces a brand new hero Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner)--an agent on the run from destruction and on a journey to discover the truth, in life-or-death stakes created by events of the first three Bourne films. Cross and Dr Shearing (Rachel Weisz) fight to survive as CIA Ops, led by Eric Byer (Edward Norton) attempt to shut down their Operation and make everyone involved disappear for good.

I liked Bourne right since the first movie came out, quite a good story, some cracking action sequences and Damon is well suited to the role.

Picked up this collection having not seen the last of the series (Legacy)
In terms of quality (picture wise) this is a jump up from the DVD's (I have a few of the films on DVD discs) though as ever if you're happy with your DVD set then there is no need to rush out and get this on Blu-ray, but it's nice to see the action unfold in true HD.

Quick run down on the films included, no spoliers!

Bourne Identity:
First of the films is a good introduction with a more considered pace (some great action scenes later on though) Laying out the plot/story details for new viewers. I'm quite happy with this one as it's well directed and has the well known and very well executed mini car chase. I find the mix of action and story to be well done overall with a good balance, and probabaly the best film in the series. Action die hards might prefer the edge of your set Ultimatum overall. Both are very strong productions.

Rating 4.5/5

Bourne Supremacy:
Good continuation from the first, but I an not a fan of the Paul Greengrass "shaky camera" style it's overdone and I find it quite hard to watch the film as there are lots of shaky camera scenes and quick cuts in action sequences, whilst they add to the drama are used too frequently for my liking. I stuck with it as I like the series but it's quite tiring watching Greengrass and his OTT camera work. There is a good story in here, it just takes patience to get to it.

Rating 3.

In truth, the latest Bourne is, in my opinion not anywhere as good as the original three. I have watched the first three many times on DVD, but have to say the Blu-ray version looks and sounds a lot crisper, making the watching experience more enjoyable. I was going to give only 4 stars as I feel the last episode wasn't up to the first three, but that would be me being picky - anyway, the fourth episode is good, it is just different. Maybe it is simply because there is no Jason Bourne in it!

Still, well worth 5 stars.

Doesn't come in a fancy box like many collections, just a wider version of the standard blu-ray box, but the contents are the main thing for me. I'm not going to describe the movies, I'm sure everyone has seen them already. The transfer quality is high on all the movies, good collection of extras for each installment. Excellent value for money.

Matt Damon is Bourne that is why Jeremy Renner's effort did not take off. Along with frenetic action sequences there are exotic locations. The series is like a tour of Europe makes a nice change from that dump LA. Okay so Damon is a short-arse but so are Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise being small isn't necessarily a problem in Hollywood - the camera can trick the eye and, in closeups with the female lead you can always stand them on a pile of telephone books. As I have said before the 'agency' guy called Vosen is unimaginably incompetent. That he is still employed by the CIA at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum beggars belief. Never the less, it's a worthy addition to your action movie collection.
