By adding a few ingredients to our pantry and fridge such as oyster sauce, fish sauce, coconut milk, fresh lemon grass and other ingredients as needed, we have built a foundation for many of the recipes. We have substituted lemon grass paste when we couldn't find fresh. Many ingredients turned out to be things that we usually have on hand such as fresh limes, cilantro, and red chilies. There are a few items to buy with some of the new recipes we try, but we find that most of the items are things we would probably buy anyway. We just wouldn't have been as adventuresome with seasonings and other additions.
This has become our favorite cookbook and has really jazzed up our weekly menus. We were so excited about the recipes that we purchased a copy for each of our 3 adult children. Finally banishing our fear of cooking Thai, I am sure that we will work our way through the complete book before long. Thank you, Linda Stephen, for an easy introduction to Thai cooking!
