About the Author
Giorgio Gandolfi, who has spent 30 years in the international coaching world, amassed a unique collection of drills from his own experience as a coach, an organizer of camps and clinics around the globe, working with the Converse Shoe Company, and as a participant in clinics from Europe, to United States, to South America, and Asia, with the top US high school, college, NBA and international coaches. Since 2003, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of Fiba Assist, the Official Technical Magazine of FIBA, the International Basketball Federation. Gandolfi is also the author of three technical books in the US: NBA Coaches Handbook, Prentice Hall, 1986; Hoops-The NBA Players Association Guide for Playing Basketball, McGraw-Hill, 1987; and NBA Coaches Playbook, Human Kinetics, 2008.

When I looked up for this book, I was in search of some great experience and a clear overview of different aspects of basketball offense, including some simple drills to work with.
This book offered me a great inspiration for drills that match my aims in teaching children and adults some better basketball, as well for a small or greater group of players. The content is really great, and a testimony of great teachers in this sport.
Finally, the book contains a helpfull layout and real inviting drawings of the drills. Until then, no other book offered me that lot of satisfaction

This should be on the top shelf of every coach' library or inside his coaching bag permanently !!
The author has collated drills from a many of the prominent coaches in world basketball.
The range of drills is fantastic with many of them applicable to beginners and advanced players from both sexes.
What I particularly like is how many of them are relevant to game situations which is the most difficult part of session coaching. Young players can be capable of displaying the fundamentals without any opposition but making the transition to game pressure is not easy. This book gives the coach many examples of intermediate drills between these two ends of the continuum.
The drills are explained clearly with excellent diagrams using the up-to-date FIBA court markings.
A must-have for all serious coaches.

tremendous book!

My personal library contains four rows of technical basketball books collected over the years, but this recent one by Giorgio Gandolfi has a special place. I have already utilized several of the drills described in his book with my team and I was surprised at how effective they were, especially for my big men. I am excited by the prospect of a new drill a day for my team. The book has a good balance of position-drills, which makes it "one-stop" shopping in setting up my daily practice schedule. It's a good buy for any coach serious about taking their team to the next level.
