I'm just about to do my first century at the advanced age of 59. This book has gently, and with a subtle sense of humour, taken me through all the steps I need to consider wrt equipment and all the issues of training and nutrition. The authors have tackled thorny problems ranging from motivation and visualisation to sore bottoms with the same practical attention to detail. It's also very well written and intelligently structured. So far I have taken on board all the advice and tips and I have reached a point where I know I can do the ride comfortably, safely and without spending a fortune on "specialist" gear. I honestly can't praise it enough.
