This book contains all the information you need as a beginner to set up a studio and safely work hot glass. There are step by step instructions on basic shaping round,square,cone,bicone,triangle and barrel as well as tabs lentils encasing pulling cane and stringer and a comprehensive chapter on murrini.
There is also a chapter on advanced shaping as well as inclusions like leaf and frit and other surface decorating techniques. I have been lampworking for a while and did feel that some of the instructions may not be explanatory enough for a complete beginner. Although I do like detailed step by step if I am teaching myself you may be fine with the basics.
A lovely series of galleries appear throughout the book highlighting the techniques taught in the previous chapters.I must point you in the direction of the 'flower bead'chapter, all you need to know to create a WOW bead. It is beautifully written with clear photographs, but if you own the Cindy Jenkins duo you may not find much new in this volume.
There is also a chapter on advanced shaping as well as inclusions like leaf and frit and other surface decorating techniques. I have to say this is a must for anyone new to lampwork bead making. This is the first time I have left a review on Amazon but felt compelled to after buying this book. Most people tend to by the Cindy Jenkins books which are good but this tops the lot, it is easy to follow, has a massive range of ideas and covers almost everything you can think of about making glass beads. Stunning photos as well. Fabulous!
