Product Description

21 days is the amount of time it takes to make a repeated action into a habit. In 21 days, you can change your life completely. You need two things: a purple bracelet, and this book. You wouldn't believe how much we complain about things - every day we bitch, vent, moan, shout and generally focus on the negative. But wouldn't it be amazing if we could focus on the positive, happy things in life instead? Will Bowen explains the simple, innovative philosophy of staying 'complaint-free' and demonstrates how, with time and determination, you can achieve a positive attitude that will improve your life permanently.

From the Back Cover

Harness the power of positive thinking and change your life in 21 days

Have you ever noticed how much we complain about things? Bitching, moaning or letting off steam - not only is focusing on the negative a waste of time, it also has a harmful effect on your life. So how can you focus on the positive, happy things in life instead?

Will Bowen shares the simple, innovative philosophy of staying 'complaint free' and reveals how it can change your life. He explains what constitutes a complaint (and what doesn't), why we complain, what benefits we think we receive from complaining, how complaining is destructive and how we can all stop complaining and start thinking and acting in positive ways.

Join the 5 million people worldwide who have taken the 'complain free' challenge! With this book's powerful yet simple message, and a little determination, you too can achieve a positive attitude and improve your life for good.

1.0 out of 5 stars A review, not a criticism..., 18 Jul 2009
After reading the many glowing reviews on amazon.com, I picked up this book out of curiosity. I was very, very disappointed. The central idea seems very good: wear a wristband, and everytime you complain about something put it on the other wrist. The challenge is to go 21 days without swapping wrists.

However, that is pretty much all there is to it. The book is padded out using anecdote after anecdote and some personal observations. He starts several paragraphs with "as I write this paragraph, such and such is happening..."; it really does feel as if Mr Bowen is writing the first thing that pops into head. And readers should be aware of the frequent references to Bowen's new age and universalist theology.

If you want to do the 21 day challenge, do the 21 day challenge. But I would advise saving your cash on this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can I see the whine list please, 9 Jul 2009

This is a rather interesting idea expanded into a book; namely, that complaining tends to make us more unhappy and serves no useful purpose and accordingly that we should be happier if we complained less. This central argument then gets mixed up with the Law of Attraction (yes, that old chesnut) and a healthy dollop of re-heated Dale Carnegie. At one stage Bowen tells us that if we predict bad things the Universe will hear us and send them, this is (I think) piffle; the Universe not being into hearing anything. But let's put that aside for a moment, what Bowen has grasped is something that I first learned in the crass school of negotiation from (I think) Gavin Kennedy, namely do not just complain, state an outcome you want. This way the recipient of your wrath at least knows what will calm you. This is what Bowen encompasses in his principle that when we complain we speak about what we don't want, not what we want. So, while doubting some of the persiflage I think there are some solid features to this book; in short, I have no complaints....
