I bought this on the basis of the other reviews. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Where to begin...
This rifle allows the use of the Wiimote with the Motion plus attached. I don't know if the others tried it, but the only way to keep the top plate closed with this arrangement is to use gaffer tape, otherwise it pops open with even the slightest jar or knock. The problem seems to be the lock-buttons on the motionplus causing the sideplate of the rifle to bulge outward. Not by much, but enough.
I don't have small hands, but I found it nearly impossible to use the trigger and control stick simultaneously. The original Zapper uses one hand to operate the Wiimote trigger and one to operate the controls on the Nunchuk. With this, the buttons for the nunchuk are mounted on the front of the "magazine" while the control stick is on the curve of the handgrip. This means you need three hands to use all the controls at the same time. At least if you want to be comfortable. I can barely get my trigger finger far enough forward to pull the trigger while using the control stick to move. Circular strafing is really difficult with this arrangement. These things are meant to make things easier, not harder.
The scope is nothing more than a plastic tube with two flat clear plastic sheets at either end: One of which has a graduated reticule. How this makes aiming clearer - as stated by another reviewer - I have no idea. The frame of the scope just blocks part of the screen, reducing the area you can see. And I'm using a 42" screen! Plus they pick up dirt really quickly. I bet they scratch easily too.
In essence, if you want to use a rifle gadget with your games, this would be fine, as long as you don't need to move while firing and you're willing to use some gaffer tape or similar if you are using the motionplus. I think I'll stick with my Nikko pistol. I can't use the Motionplus (the new all-in-one Wiimote/Motion plus is coming out soon though), but it's still better and far more comfortable than this travesty.
