A combined portable 2.1 speaker system and recharging docking-station.The soundwave is ideal for listening to music, watching movies or playing your games. While doing your favourite things on your PSP you can be charging at the same time.
First off, you usually get what you pay for and in this case that holds true but that's not necessarily a bad thing! You get a stylish portable speaker system matching the Psp perfectly. It has a nice rubberised feel and look on the back off the unit. The soundwave sits on a fold out pair of small sprung legs displaying your Psp at the obligatory angle. It can run with four AAA batteries or AC current. The soundwave is compact and slides horizontally to reveal a pop up headphone plug along with remote jack which your Psp sits neatly atop. On the other side are contacts which match up with the underside of your Psp DC jack and enable your AC power supply to plug into the back of the speaker unit. This leaves the Psp recharging at the same time while being used. You just push the speakers together again and the whole unit looks neat and compact. You also get the option of plugging in a supplied audio cable connecting the Psp with the speakers when playing any hand held game. This also allows any standard 3.5mm headphone socket mp3 player or device to be used with the soundwave unit. Oddly there's an IR sensor found at the front of the unit leading you to believe remote functionality is in the offering, however no remote is packaged and no mention is made of this on the data sheet enclosed. The sound doesn't blow you away but it is definitely a big improvement and more than sufficient to listen to a few Mp3 tracks or watch a movie in normal daytime conditions without distortion. It Will fill a hotel room without being exactly earth shaking. It lacks bass detail but thats more to do with no sub woofer ability and is more the norm i find with these sort of systems. If your looking for a compact stereo system along the lines of more expensive systems at more than TWICE the price then this isn't for you. If however like me you've already got more than enough home cinema and home hifi systems in your pad then this is suitable, compact, stylish and most importantly value for money. The sound is probably comparable to the stereo separation of individual battery speaker units you used to plug into your portable CD player. Clear ,audible but lacking a bit of bass depth. Overall it's a purchase I'm happy with.Read more ›
