Fits perfectly on my console had no troubles getting it on and it just is powered by a USB slot which is perfect, does exactly what it says on the tin...Kept my PS3 console cool during 8 hours of playtime...Very good product for the price.

The fan unit fits well and the fans do work well at removing hot air from the console.
However, the clasp which fits onto the rear of the console, fits over one of the hottest parts of the PS3. This, in effect, adds another layer of insulation to the PS3 (not useful when cooling is the objective).
If the noise of the inbuilt PS3 fans is your issue, then this is NOT YOUR SOLUTION! The noise of the extra cooling fan is louder than those of the PS3 when it is turned up (60%+). For it to have any effect at keeping the inbuilt fans on low, you will need to turn it up, thus defeating the point of buying a cooling fan to keep your PS3 quiet.
Buy it if cooling is seriously a problem for you; it is effective when turned up. Don't bother buying it if keeping your PS3 quiet is what you want.

I wanted a fan to help keep my PS3 cool, I bought this item and I have to agree with other reviewers that it is not the best fan to buy to aid keeping it cool. However, if you are using this in conjuction with another fan the two work very well to keep the PS3 cool. I bought this and am using a "USB CRYSTAL 3 Fans Cooler Pad for Laptop, Notebook, Xbox, PS3" and it keeps the machine VERY cool, for a decent price aswell.
Like has been mentioned before, the fan on it's own does not provide a lot of wind but it is there to work together with the PS3 side fan so therefore helps the hot air exit the machine.
It fits onto the side of the PS3, if you are facing the PS3 it will fit on the right side next to the power button and disc drive. It doesn't clip onto the existing fan area on this side which is very annoying but it has a little tray on the bottom that will help it cling to the bottom of the PS3 and so as long as you don't move the PS3 a lot it will stay in position. It comes with a USB connecton, the wire is extremely thin and so does look a bit flimsy but it is sturdy.
This fits the original PS3s, so won't help you PS Slim owners I am afraid.

Useless!
Unfortunately this cooling fan is useless. It doesn't help cool the system at all - it actually sucks more dust/hair etc into the system. It also fits very poorly onto the PS3. Read more

Its great.

My PS3 fan still kicks in far too much but at least I can rest safe knowing the extra fans are keeping the internals cool.
