Product Description

Product Description

The requirements for a competition car electrical system are significantly different from those of a standard road car. Such luxuries as electric windows and central locking are superfluous for competition purposes. Conversely, equipment such as emergency electrical cut-outs and fire extinguisher systems may be required in a competition car. Electrical system reliability is an often-overlooked aspect of competition car design, and a common source of trouble. Here is a practical, illustrated guide to all aspects of electrical system design and implementation, essential reading for anyone running or constructing a competition car or modifying a road car for competition use.

This guy really knows his stuff, but he knows how to make it simple to understand too A lot of the book makes you feel like he is letting you into secrets of the trade. instead of paying someone thousands of pounds to wire up your racing car buy this book and do it yourself. Its pretty simple when you understand it and this book helps you do that

When I first started to read this book I thought it was a bit simplistic, then I realised the first chapter is just designed to get you up to speed. As soon as the more detailed stuff started I realised just how useful it is. The text is easy to understand and the pictures are a good balance of detailed and dramatic. I haven't read the others in the series to compare but this has made me keen to make the effort to track them down. It seems to be biased very slightly towards rally cars but there is still plenty for circuit racers and even your road car. The Author has a pretty good writing style which is easy to understand. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in motorsport. It makes a complicated subject easy to understand.

This is, in my limited experience a top addition to the Haynes range. A colleague of mine has been using a copy since it was published and recommended it to me. Having just got into the sport I found the information accessable without being patronising, still retaining the professional air you expect from a Haynes book. I hope the author has more up his sleeve!!
