3.0 out of 5 stars No Modern Day Classic...But 1 Mar 2013
By Seven Ragged Tigers TOP 1000 REVIEWER
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this low budget war movie,on paper it doesn't look that impressive. But its not what I expected, and pulls off the neat trick of being greater than the sum of its parts.Don't get me wrong it doesn't make any attempt to be a realistic war movie, there are far too many historical gaffs for that, but it settles for being a an action flick with a World War II backdrop, and on that level it works quite well. Its reasonably paced, that action is fairly graphic, and there is plenty of it,in short it does exactly what it says on the tin.Biggest surprise of all was that the standard of acting was pretty good,Ive always liked Tom Sizemore, but he did seem to have pulled the self destruct pin on his career a while ago,but his performance here sees him taking a big step back to being the actor he was,and that has to be a good thing.Even Vinnie Jones is good in this, getting to shoot and beat the living daylights out of half the German army, and loving every minute of it.

On the downside,it tends to impose modern day values onto the goings on,which doesn't sit at all well in places, and the lack of budget does make some of the effects a bit iffy every now and then,in places it looks a bit like a video game.If your looking for a serious World War II movie then this one is not for you,but if you want to be entertained by an action movie, you could do a lot worse.I enjoyed the 100 minutes I spent in its company, and its a film I will watch again at some point.Amazon don't do half marks, else I would have given it 3.5 stars instead of just 3.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete and utter B@@@@ocks 1 Mar 2014
By coanda
Yet again I have wasted my money on a appalling load of USA produced rubbish, even with Mr V Jones's involvement it remains unwatchable.
Given my time again, I should have gone to the pub, or watch Strictly come I am a celebrity.......
Save your money..

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny story 5 Feb 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I initially ordered this thinking that is a game - I obviously didn't read the description carefully...
So to my initial surprise I received a movie so I decided to watch it.

+ well, it's a movie, like two hours long

- boring action lacking suspense
- mediocre actors
- mediocre script
- mediocre movie

Let me know if you have any questions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good film 8 May 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
COH starts off well, but as soon as a German T34 shows up, I knew we had a bad one!
German uniforms are crap, a German "SS" Officer wears the correct cap but the rest of his uniform is Wehrmacht, why??
The story goes on with a trainride from the Eifel area to Stuttgart, in those days and conditions of the rail network probably a journey of days, or rather nights.
In Stuttgart the theater is ablaze in light,I don't think so.
The team kills a lot of Germans, who miss all the time, can't aim at all.
The US bombardment is a reall killer as well, they fly so low, a well placed MG could have shot them all down.
Standard hight for B-17's would be above 15.000 feet at least!
And then the two clinchers: the team has direct radio contact with the fighter P 51's and drive all the way back to the front line, crossing it without any trouble!
Sorry guys, I don't know who checked reallity in this film, but your military adviser wasn't worth the money.
My advise: don't make war movies on a shoestring!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful 8 April 2014
The movie style clips in a Call of Duty game are far more entertaining and contain more plot.

Your time will be better spent watching almost any other war film.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Company 14 Mar 2014
By Dale
With a title like Company of Heroes it's clear the film is going to be a gung-ho action film rather than an evocative war film, so the question is does it deliver the goods? On the plus side the film is well directed with solid cinematography and great lighting. The acting is good as you'd expect with some well known faces - Tom Sizemore, Jurgen Prochnow, though their appearance made wish I was watching the superior war films they made their names in (Das Boot, Saving Private Ryan). Poor plot writing lets the film down as well as cliched dialogue and terrible soundtrack that tries to instill some stirring emotions that many scenes clearly lack. A more credible plot, a few less characters, and some better dialogue would have lifted the quality of the film - think of Kelly's Heroes, or Where Eagles Dare and you'll get an idea of direction a good action war movie should take. Low budget war films certainly can be of a high standard as films such as A Midnight Clear and When Trumpets Fade amply demonstrate, sadly this film fails to come close to such standards. Not recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars could have been better 5 Jan 2014
I did expect this to be a very good film considering tom sizemore (saving private ryan, black hawk down and pearl harbour) has starred in some pretty big movies but im seeing tom sizemore as a co star for films which hes very good at but as the top billing ?....its not really him in my opinion ......the films okay and even vinny jones tries his hardest it still doesnt make this a classic
age of heroes is slightly better with sean bean

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but Bad! 19 Aug 2013
The whole movie really deal with good action. But I am a model maker, I have never seen this kind of T-34 tank before. I think the researcher has not done good research, and the director tread the audience like fool. Personally, I think they want to make those T-34s look like Panther tanks, but it just waste the time. The Germans did captured some T-34s for their own use with big German signs, if they have done good research, this is not bad overall.

3.0 out of 5 stars What could have been?
The movie starts in the Ardenne( with real snow) and ends in Stuttgart. The end is predictable but the road up to it is mind boggling.
