Product Description

Product Description

Containing 170 easily performed, two-person sketches for every Sunday of the three-year lectionary cycle, this text provides a useful resource for churches and preachers looking to enliven their Sunday worship. Each short piece of drama is based on the set Gospel lesson and aims to develop themes or illuminate characters found in those readings. They should prove a useful springboard for issues to be developed in a wide variety of styles of worship from all age worship to mid-week groups or school assemblies. Many of the sketches have already been "road tested" by school pupils and minimal preparation is needed with plenty of opportunity for creative expansion.

About the Author

Paul S Glass is a Minister who has a long-term interest in drama. His experiences as school chaplain at Ashville College and as Chaplain to the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds have helped to form these scripts. He currently serves as Superintendent Minister of the Wakefield Circuit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Varied scripts, all based on Gospel readings, 29 Jan 2009
By Jackie (Suffolk, UK) - See all my reviews
I was slightly surprised to find that every script in the book was linked to a reading from Matthew, Mark or Luke with none from the Old Testament or Epistles. However each dialogue has a modern title too and the content is varied - from 2 voices (more like a meditation), eye witnesses of Jesus, characters from the parables etc, to current day parallels.

The print is very small, but has the benefit of each script fitting onto 1 page.

We will certainly be using some of these dialogues in our services.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super , 25 Oct 2007

These two person Dialogues fit the Revised Common Lectionary like a glove. While am I not sure we could use a "play" every Sunday they do make a great alternative to a traditional reading (use instead of the lesson) or even the Sermon. If you do that I suggest that a short talk is added drawing some of the points out.

An important addition to any preachers bookshelf.
