Invaluable Little Reference Book, Very Well Done 30 Nov. 2014
By sbv17 - Published on
This invaluable little book of 224 pages contains relatively concise descriptions and explanations of various medieval items, such as taxation, tithing, schools, and roads. Although it is alphabetical, it isn't a dictionary per se since it doesn't cover as many subjects and it covers them in more depth. I bought it years ago, but I forgot about it and just used it today.

It is particularly helpful because Saul seems to cut to the chase and give the most pertinent details.

The best part is that Saul lists one or two references underneath each entry, and this has proven to be very helpful.

I highly recommend this book to anyone doing research on the Middle Ages, including historians, novelists, and reenactors.
