5.0 out of 5 stars Well-illustrated book describing a variety of techniques associated with sawdust-firing, 17 Nov 2007
By C. Lee (Yorkshire, England, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A lovely, easy-to-read book which describes, in a useful and practical way, many different potters' approaches to sawdust-firing. The variety of materials which can be used for combustion are revealed. Treatments such as resist techniques for special effects are covered as are related firing techniques such as saggar firing. It contains beautiful photographic examples of finished work. The book also has a useful section on tips for success and helpful illustrations of the profiles of various types of kilns, the illustration of the author's own one which I have used recently to build my own simple sawdust kiln. An excellent, comprehensive book useful for anyone wishing to carry out a sawdust-firing.
