If you are blogger and have read 31 Days to Finding Your Blogging Mojo by Bryan Allain, the good news is that he's done another book that's great for bloggers (although not limited to them) called Community Wins: 21 Thoughts on Building a Thriving Online Tribe.

In this short and very practical ebook Allain shares some of the lessons and tips he's picked up as he's grown and developed his own online community around him. However he doesn't just share the lessons he's learned along the way, he also wants to help you develop yours own community and finishes each chapter with some action steps for you to do this.

Ultimately the secret to building a community he says is to serve the people who rally around you and this book has some great ideas to assist you in this.

This is Bryan's second ebook and it follows the same practical exercise format of the first. This is all about building your community, and isn't so much a how-to book as more an advice and ideas book, as there is no 10-step plan to success. This is a short book and you can read it very quickly, but it is full of points to ponder and actions to take that if you put in the time will have a significant impact on helping you figure out what you want your platform to be about and how you can engage more effectively with those who are following you (on facebook/twitter/your blog etc). There is plenty of Bryan's style of humour, which I love, although not as much as was in his last book which is slightly disappointing.
This is a good book, and has lots to get you thinking, I just would have liked it a little longer, and maybe some more of his personal story

Want to improve and expand the community you're developing? This book is designed to be a central tool to enable you to create an effective action plan to do just that. It's crammed full of short chapters (literally, one or two pages), each of which ends with action points which are down-to-earth, practical, and possible regardless of the size or nature of the community you're building.

I really enjoy Bryan Allain's blog, and this book is sprinkled generously with his humour, so if you don't like the blog the chances are you won't like this either, but it's undeniable that he's built a community around that very same sense of humour, and this book is filled with the little lessons he's learnt along that journey.

The book itself is only 60 pages or so, so at first glance it might not seem like you get much bang for your buck, but it's definitely one of those where you'll get back what you put in; read it cover-to-cover in an hour and you'll think you've wasted your money, but take the time out to address each action point and you'll have created a detailed, specific plan for taking your community forward.

I'd recommend this to anyone who is running some form of community, even if that community is absolutely tiny; you'll find it encouraging, funny, and a good way of helping you determine next steps.
