This is the final chapter in Community, a show that has managed to survive all odds in even making it to five seasons but unfairly met its end this week with its cancelation. With Dan Harmon getting fired at the end of the third season, it looked unlikely to see a fourth, and when we did it was not what we expected and it was not the Community we came to know and love. With the announcement of the fifth season, and the return of Dan Harmon fans were excited and happy to see his return as the whole show is his brain child and while season 4 was enjoyable and better compared to other shows out there, something was off and it just didn't feel like Community. With season 5 all did not run so smoothly with the departure of Chevvy Chase, (who's feud with Dan Harmon Resulted in Harmon getting fired). This season also saw the loss of Donald Glover who left half way into the season and the season is defiantly affected by these two pivotal characters leaving. This season is right up there with the first three seasons but due to the limited number of episodes often the show appeared to rely on gimmicks which are fun and enjoyable it still feels off.

What I cant understand is how this show has not attracted the attention of a popular channel here such as E4, with the success of mediocre shows such as "The Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" This show would have found a great audience here, many people already know lines from the show without even knowing that the programme exists. I would recommend this show to everyone, it is one of the few shows that what ever mood you are in you can put in any disk from any season and enjoy the show over and over again. This show will be greatly missed, and I will regard it as one of the best sitcoms of the 21st century.

A great return for a great series, and the episodes alone deserve 5 stars, but this DVD doesn't.

Amazon promised a variety of special features and commentaries on every episode, yet that is not the case. This DVD only contains 13 episodes. That's literally it. No special features, no commentaries, just 13 episodes. Amazon have since deleted this from the product description, but a lot of dedicated fans have already purchased it expecting these features.

Until a US import is available, I'd hold off buying this unless you don't care about these extras or commentaries.

Warning! My pre-ordered copy of the DVD arrived early and it contained no extra features or commentaries. I can only assume that these are only available on the US version of this box set, I did not read anywhere that this would be the case, had I known this ahead of time I would have imported the American version. Don't get me wrong, the episodes are great but as a fan I want the additional material. Please be warned that the product description is a lie.

Great show and the episodes are some of the best yet but the lack of extras stop me from giving this 5 stars. This wouldn't be so bad if Amazon weren't advertising this DVD as featuring them.
In terms of the actual show there are many highlights, from Geothermal Escapism, where we say goodbye to a fan favourite to GI Jeff, which takes the form of 80s cartoon GI Joe, complete with specially recorded adverts.
As meta as the previous seasons with great guests and new regulars John Oliver (who returns as Professor Ian Duncan in a much larger role) and Johnathan Banks (Breaking Bad) as Professor Hickey, who replaces Chevy Chases Pierce Hawthorne.

Firstly the the episodes are 5 star

My issue is with Amazon posting a list of extras that only appear on the US DVDs. Just found out there are no extras when I started watching.
Now I've come back to the website and the extras description has been removed.

I think the worst thing is I've bought all seasons in the past and this is the first time I've felt disappointed.

Great series, advertised extras not included. Really not good enough.

I wish I'd read the customer reviews before nipping out to the shops today - I'd read that the special features were included, and of course, I now realise that these are bare bones discs.
Season 1-4 I imported, because they had a wealth of extras, so it's nice to see Sony Pictures Television showing such disdain for UK customers. Still, at least we've got those utterly useless Ultraviolet downloads to make up for it - you know, the ones that aren't compatible with all platforms.

The negatives first to get them out of the way - this is nowhere near the class of Community at its classic best. The first 3 seasons of the show were pure gold, things dipped a little in the fourth season and despite the original creator and show runner, Dan Harmon, returning after a year off, season 5 doesn't restore all the former glories. Apart from a tiny cameo, there's no Chevy Chase and after the first 5 episodes there's no Donald Glover either which takes a little of the heart out of the show.

Having said all that, for fans (such as myself) there's still much to enjoy here. We see Jeff try his hand at teaching, another slice of Dungeons and Dragons, more of Abed breaking the fourth wall, a bizarre animated GI Joe inspired episode and an ever more expanding role for the (awesome) Dean. John Oliver is back as Professor Duncan and a new character of Buzz Hickey (played by Jonathan Banks) is shoehorned in as a replacement of sorts for Chevy Chase. There's also a strange new twist on the old paintball episodes with a trip to Lava World.

If anything, it's even more bonkers than previous years and is good fun but without the consistent belly laughs. The show was sadly dropped by NBC after this season but apparently will live on through Yahoo Screen (whatever that is) as they have picked it up for another 13 episode season. The 6 seasons and a movie dream lives on.
