This latest volume in the "Common Worship" series is an essential part of any minister's library. The services provide a liturgical structure for the journey to and beyond baptism and confirmation. As well as the well known services of Baptism and Confirmation, there are the brand new Rites on the Way designed to be used with adults who have recently found faith - perhaps through Christian nurture courses like Emmaus or Alpha. These services mark their coming to faith and help them on the journey towards baptism and confirmation. Other new services include Reconciliation and Restoration. These include rites for the reconciliation of a penitent (confession), as well as a corporate service of penitence for use during Advent and Lent and in preparation for significant events such as a parish mission or pilgrimage. What can I say -if you are an Anglican minister and you need to carry out a baptism, or affim a baptism, recover a baptism penitentially or prepare someone for baptism and confirmation... then this is the book for you. Literally, THE book (unless you want to use the Book of Common Prayer, which is also fine) but otherwise -this is your authorised alternative.
Cover is a rather startling blue in my opinion, maybe supposed to symbolise water?
Only 4 ribbon markers, which is 2 less than Common Worship Daily Prayer, but 2 more than Common Worship Services and Prayers -so reasonably good value on that front...er, it's a taller book than the other two I mentioned -but I may have accidently ended up with a large-print copy...
Ooh -you can also find a non-baptismal service of thanksgiving at the start.
If you wanted to lead a group of 'catechumens', new churchgoers or lapsed churchgoers, on a Lent course -there are enough initiation services along the road to provide you with all you could possibly need.

A very useful reference tool for those involved in the leadership of Church of England churches. It provides litugy for the less frequently used services.
