Product Description

Product Description

Prepare to take the Commandos on their most deadly mission yet as you venture deeper into enemy territory in Commandos 3: Destination Berlin the third instalment in the tactical strategy series. Commandos 3 takes the stunningly detailed graphics and compelling gameplay of the series to a whole new level. The game features a new interior engine that allows you to rotate the detailed environments and zoom in and out. Prepare your Commandos as enemy bombing raids lay waste to environments, requiring you to change your tactics and approach.

The structure of the game has been completely revamped. Commandos 3: Destination Berlin features more detailed, smaller maps providing more action-orientated missions as part of an overall campaign. A strong narrative drives the story via cinematic briefing screens. The gameplay also incorporates completely new gaming situations including ambushes, assaults and level bosses as well as classic Commandos gameplay.

Commandos 3 has three main campaigns: Stalingrad, Central Europe and Normandy. Each of the campaigns involves many different tactical situations and they can be played in any order. The game features scenarios unseen in previous Commandos games, taking you to the Stalingrad battlefields of the Eastern Front, the heart of the Reich in the Gestapo headquarters in Berlin and the D-Day assault at Omaha Beach. For the first time in the series, there's a death match multiplayer mode for up to eight players where you can use your tactical skills to play online or across a LAN.

After completing Commandos 1 & 2, i have to say that this is the easiest of the three games ive played. Commandos 3 has yet again, stuning graphics and game play but i didn't think that there where enough levels in the game. Where as in Commandos 2 you had to collect bonus items to get extra levels and you could climb the ladder in the ranks of the army, nothing like it is evident in this new game. I took collection of this game on saturday 25th and it has only taken 2 days to complete. Still it was good to play some different theatres of the war for a change. The game seems more of an add on than a seperate game, but never the less it still impressed me.Well done Eidos, when will Commandos 4 be made?.

Going Commando. 18 Nov 2003
I found Commandos 3 initially dissappointing compared to its predecessor. Aspects of Commandos 2 such as searching through enemy closests and desks, being able to revive fellow commandos with health packs and a compelling post mission evaluation had all been removed. There also seems to be fewer missions and your commandos spend less time indoors.

I later found this initial disappointment was just a case of getting used to the new installment of an excellent strategy game series.

The gameplay is once again second to none. Graphics are excellent and the new levels contain some superb scenarios. The armoured train for instance, which is holding "Frenchy" and The Spy captive, travelling at high speeds whilst you take control of the "Sarge" on a german motorbike, catching up to the train before boarding it to rescue your buddies, and neutralise every single German soldier on board.

As one of the previous reviewers has already mentioned, the game does not seem quite as long or as big as Commandoes 2, but then it is significantly cheaper. I have been playing it constantly for about a week or so and have n't finished it. Owners of the previous titles will know that it is really how you approach each level, and whether you prefer to take more imaginative methods than simply shooting your enemy to neutralise them, which determines how long it will take you to complete any Commandos game.

Thouroughly recommended.

Dickie.

looking forward to the third installment of this series, i was dissapointed to find the game not nearly as good as the second commandos game.

the training missions arent as long, or exciting as the second game.

and the missions just dont seem to have the same thought in them, just more bad guys and more of the missions seem down to how quick you are as apposed to how stealthy or thoughtful you are.

maybe in time i will look past the faults of the game and enjoy it on its own merits, but for now i will stick with no2

Commanods 3 playing
Very entertaining and gripping game, makes me want to resolve the levels, but easier and shorter than previous versions of the game. So less value for money.
