The structure of the game has been completely revamped. Commandos 3: Destination Berlin features more detailed, smaller maps providing more action-orientated missions as part of an overall campaign. A strong narrative drives the story via cinematic briefing screens. The gameplay also incorporates completely new gaming situations including ambushes, assaults and level bosses as well as classic Commandos gameplay.
Commandos 3 has three main campaigns: Stalingrad, Central Europe and Normandy. Each of the campaigns involves many different tactical situations and they can be played in any order. The game features scenarios unseen in previous Commandos games, taking you to the Stalingrad battlefields of the Eastern Front, the heart of the Reich in the Gestapo headquarters in Berlin and the D-Day assault at Omaha Beach. For the first time in the series, there's a death match multiplayer mode for up to eight players where you can use your tactical skills to play online or across a LAN.

I later found this initial disappointment was just a case of getting used to the new installment of an excellent strategy game series.
The gameplay is once again second to none. Graphics are excellent and the new levels contain some superb scenarios. The armoured train for instance, which is holding "Frenchy" and The Spy captive, travelling at high speeds whilst you take control of the "Sarge" on a german motorbike, catching up to the train before boarding it to rescue your buddies, and neutralise every single German soldier on board.
As one of the previous reviewers has already mentioned, the game does not seem quite as long or as big as Commandoes 2, but then it is significantly cheaper. I have been playing it constantly for about a week or so and have n't finished it. Owners of the previous titles will know that it is really how you approach each level, and whether you prefer to take more imaginative methods than simply shooting your enemy to neutralise them, which determines how long it will take you to complete any Commandos game.
Thouroughly recommended.
Dickie.
the training missions arent as long, or exciting as the second game.
and the missions just dont seem to have the same thought in them, just more bad guys and more of the missions seem down to how quick you are as apposed to how stealthy or thoughtful you are.
maybe in time i will look past the faults of the game and enjoy it on its own merits, but for now i will stick with no2
