3.0 out of 5 stars Lewis Collins - what might have been! 5 July 2013
By Mr. S. Storey TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
Collins gives us a an engaging hero and Kinsky performs at his wide eyed scene chewing best. In terms of cinematography, I thought that the model work looked great, the dam busting sequence was ok and the aeroplane explosion was as good as any other I've seen. The basic plot about an educated man returning home to become a freedom fighter is interesting enough and is complimented by some large scale action set pieces. I watched this in full knowlege that it's a low budget, Italian made, mercenary movie and with my expectations duly managed, I found it easy to appreciate the movies subtle charms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Commando Leopard 2 Oct 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Commando Leopard was a 1985 film that starred Lewis Collins as Captain Enrique Carrasco. In this film, South American rebels must fight to free their country from the brutal oppression of a fascist dictatorship. After spectacularly taking out a dam, the rebels become public eneny no.1 for El Presidente, relentlessly pursued through the jungle by Colonel Silveira (played by Klaus Kinski).

Like Code Name: Wild Geese, Commando Leopard is also brilliant in that it has plenty of action with big guns, big explosions and mindless destruction. The film also relied on a very good cast of actors including its lead actor Lewis Collins and all the other actors who appeared in it (including Klaus Kinski as Silveira). Very highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Commando Leopard 27 Nov 2012
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
In a unnamed Latin American dictatorship Carrasco leads a small band of rebels in a attack on a heavily guarded dam. After the mission is a success he and along with his soldiers which include, Smithy a British mercenary and a Maria a ex medical student, are ruthlessly hunted down by the cruel Silveira who will stop at nothing to see them all dead.

English actor Lewis Collins is back in the second of his and director Antonio Margheriti's Jungle action adventure trilogy (the first been Code name Wilde Geese and the third The Commander).

As with all of Margheriti's war movies the action comes thick and fast and is very well made. Another thing to look out for though is the impressive models used in the dam explosion and where a large plane is blown up and crashes on the ground.

Lewis Collins is great as the hard as nails commander who eventually realises he doesn't want to fight any more and wants to find peace. A ageing Klaus Kinski is his usual menacing self and meets a just worthy end in the impressive climax.

The music by Goran Kuzminac is impressive and there is also some tracks stolen from Ennio Morricone's score for The Battle of Algiers.

Overall a well made, exciting low budget war movie.

GREAT DVD QUALITY. WIDESCREEN
