Product Description

Review

'Margaret Wilkinson brings us up to date on the brain functions of traumatized children while spectacularly enlightening us on how their minds function even years after their traumas. This book penetrates the world of neglected and abused children with profound clarity, empathy, and understanding.'

Lenore Terr, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of California San Francisco School of Medicine.

'Margaret Wilkinson’s book offers a beautifully lucid overview of contemporary neuroscience and demonstrates its crucial relevance to our clinical practice and our understanding of the relational roots of the development of mind and self-awareness.'

Jean Knox, Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Analytical Psychology

'An exemplary contribution to neuropsychoanalytic scholarship'

Allan N. Schore, from the foreword

3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting start for beginers, 31 Jan 2008
By Lilacstar (united kingdom) - See all my reviews
Having finished a psychology degree and pursuing a career in psychotherapy, I didn't get a whole lot of new information from this book. It was interesting to read about her own cases and I enjoyed the chapters on the adolescent brain and the dreaming mind-brain. These chapters were detailed enough to hold my interest.

However, For people just starting to explore the area of neuroscience or psychotherapy I think this would be a very good purchase. It explains clearly a lot of the biological jargon and manages to integrate two separate fields of study into one interesting book.
