Stunning! I loved this. Totally believable. You have a great voice.

A hilarious story brilliantly crafted through the simple but insightful voice of Jacob. Amazing start introducing us to his family, his university ambitions and then the sudden twist and taking his father's offer on the pub. The characters are colourful and the unfolding plot promises to make the story gripping all the way to the end.
What a fun body of work. Your character Jacob Hank Cox is just so fun loving, it's infectious. Sorry it took me so long to get to your book, but once I read the first paragraph, I was hooked! Thanks for sharing.

My favorite part is the list at the end of chapter 1. DO NOT LET MILLER SLEEP WITH THE STAFF. In fact only hire ugly staff so Miller does not try to bed them...HAHA.
Love how it's done with little journal entries.

I like the blog entry styling, something a bit different from the norm which allows you to indulge Jacob's self important interpretation of events (never did find out his A level results) and to jump from entry to entry just feeding us the bits we need to hear.
Its funny, original and different.
All the best

Hi there, nice and spiky first paragraph. It's well-written but also believeable, it could well be the diary of a sarky teenager. Self-mocking humour as well as nasty barbs aimed at the family. "The cuckoo in the nest among a family of shortarses... 'Ban karaoke, this will be a class establishment'.... Excellent stuff.
This is silly, funny and thoroughly readable. What a nightmare family plus friends but they mix well to make a refreshingly different and amusing story.
I only comment as a reader, interested in stories and happy to find a good one. This didn't disappoint and I hope it does well. Laughter's a great tonic! Margaret
This is great. I enjoyed the format more than I thought I would. So so funny and what an original voice. Anyone who can make me laugh deserves a shelving. Best of luck
This is hilarious! I have a book (not on this site) similar to this one about the hospital nursing profession called "Toxic Poop: Stories from the Other Side of the Bedpan". I love the peek into someone else's chosen livelihood and all of those outtake moments. Although this is fiction (?), it was just so much fun to read. Best of luck with it.
Love it! It's not my usual kind of read, but your pitch pulled me in. It's impossible not to be seduced out of my usual grim-faced seriousness by Jacob.
You have a very humourus writing style, it had me laughing in places. You can just sense that things are going to go wrong, but you have to read on to find what happens. I'll be back to read more.

You have nailed it. hilarious I am still wiping my eyes with the last of the kleannex tissues. vivid descriptions. ment to read just a couple of chapers. kept going.
This is a fabulous read for several reasons, the first and most important is Jacob. He rocks. You've nailed his voice, his dry humor is addictive. The online journal approach is perfect - not only does this make the book feel very candid, as though he will say things here that he wouldn't say anywhere else, but this style moves the story along at a brisk pace and the reader can mentally capsulize each scene as Jacob writes about it.
My biggest laugh, and there were many was "only hire ugly staff so Miller does not try to bed them and cause internal staffing problems." That line ROCKS, along with so many others.
For all that he thinks, all his quirkiness, Jacob is adorable. Because of Jacob, I'll come back regularly until I've all of his tale.
This is hilarious. I loved the narrative voice; it felt so authentic and depicted an eighteen year old convincingly. The way Jacob describes his family with such vivid descriptions made them come to life and you can really picture them.
This is an engaging read. I just had to laugh. I liked the interaction between Jacob and Winky and hope they do meet again.
