Product Description

Long Lost Comedy Classics is a collection of films from a golden age of British Cinema, remembered for timeless stars and some unique movies that have stood the test of time. So why not take a trip down memory lane and see how cinema used to be? Miss Robin Hood (Sid James, Margaret Rutherford) A newspaper columnist conspires with an elderly fan to steal a secret whiskey formula from a wealthy distiller. However, it s not long before Scotland Yard is on the case! You're Only Young Twice (Duncan Macrae, Charles Hawtrey, Ronnie Corbett, Joseph Tomelty) A young girl Ada Shore, arrives at Skerryvore University in Scotland in search of her long lost uncle who was once a subversive Irish poet but is now working under another name as the University Gate Keeper... Brandy For The Parson(Kenneth More, Charles Hawtrey, Alfie Bass, Frank Tickle) A young couple on a yachting holiday become involved with Tony Rackham who is smuggling brandy from France. Through various mishaps, they find themselves personally responsible for transporting the brandy kegs to London, whilst being pursued by Customs officials... Time Gentlemen Please (Sid James, Dora Bryan, Thora Hird) The PM is planning a celebration visit to the model village of Little Hayhoe. However, local lay-about Dan Dance refuses to work, so he s shipped off to the local almshouse where he awaits an uncertain, yet very funny future. DVD features include Original Stills Gallery

1.0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE!!!! What are Slam Dunk Media playing at, 6 April 2008

As my review title says what are Slam Dunk Media playing at. Two of these titles are already available in Volume 1 of their collections, Miss Robin Hood & Time Gentlemen Please. So DO NOT BUY if you already have the first volume. Order You're Only Young Twice & Brandy For The Parson now as they are already available to buy on their own. My rating 1/5 is for Slam Dunks terrible marketing ploy, saying they are new to DVD, 2 titles yes but not the new box set as a whole, & 5/5 for the new DVD titles.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth getting, 22 Dec 2008

Firstly ... I must say I enjoy old black and white films a lot so when the first set of the Long Lost Comedy Classics arrived I thought great, now to order volume 2 of the series.
I should have looked at the titles in the set first though and if I had I wouldn't have made the mistake of ordering them. Upon receiving volume two, I realized two of the 4 films in Volume 2 are already in Volume 1: Miss Robin Hood and Time Gentleman Please..
So you are paying all this money for two films if you got the first set, not four... hardly a good idea.
So in ending I would say unless you really want and love the two films not in set one that you save your money. Thanks. Terry

I can't believe that any company would try to pull one like this. I haven't bought this set thanks to the reviews, but I agree with them. I bought Miss Robin Hood and it is thoroughly enjoyable, so definitely buy the box-set or individual films if u need them but make sure u dont buy both sets!
