LAUREL & HARDY'S MUSIC BOX
For decades, we fans of Hal Roach comedy shorts longed for recordings of the music on LP . . . but none were available, and so we did the next best thing: recorded audio tapes of the films off television and then edited out all dialogue and enjoyed ourselves silly. Then came the 80s and audio CDs . . . but still no pressings of the invigorating melodies. Then came the 1990s . . . and . . .
The Premier Set of music for Laurel and Hardy comedies and other Hal Roach comedy shorts by LeRoy Shields and Marvin Hatley, under the baton of Maestro Ronnie Hazlehurst & His "GG" band. Recorded in the UK around 1990 and presented in the USA by the fabulous Michael Agee in two companion CD volumes:
#1: Laurel & Hardy's Music Box
#2: Laurel & Hardy's Music Box Volume II
Art Deco and the Toe Tappers (Hazlehurst's "GG" Band, natch).
These recordings predate, and are as thoroughly enjoyable as those of, The Beau Hunks, issued a few years later.
A must for fans of LeRoy Shields, Marvin Hatley and Ronnie Hazlehurst.
