CAM'RON

Simply put, Harlem's favorite son Cam'ron is a movement unto himself. From literally changing the face of urban fashion with his trendsetting, redefining sense of style and signature pink wardrobe, to his mind-boggling ghetto nursery rhymes, to the secret code he's developed with his Diplomats crew - 'Dip Set,' 'Byrd Gang,' 'Purple City,' ... Cam'ron ~ Come Home With Me

Amazon.co.uk

With its combination of charmless posturing and slick production, Cam'ron's Come Home with Me perfectly sums up the rap mainstream in 2002. The invitation in the title is both sexual and geographical. Cam'ron has two favourite topics: using, then discarding, women; and the continuing delinquency (despite its supposed regeneration) in his Harlem neighbourhood. He seems unduly proud of both. When it stays up-tempo, this album sounds very good indeed--just rough enough around the edges to bite, and stuffed with well-chosen and entertainingly melodramatic samples, leaning towards adult-oriented rock. The title track, "Oh Boy", "Live My Life" and "Dead or Alive" all have this artfully raw quality, with backings reminiscent of RZA's work around the time of the second Wu-Tang LP. The most prominent of eight--count 'em--guest artists, Jay-Z features to fine effect on "Welcome to New York City"; but his appearance also shows up his host's limitations. Cam'ron shares Jay-Z's belligerence but lacks his magnetism. Come Home with Me features great individual tracks. Taken as a whole, however, Cam'ron's relentless and unvaried tone of aggro can wear the listener down. -–David Bennum

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 14 Feb 2004
By Dan
Format:Audio CD
This is my first experience of Cam'ron. I have only had the album for two days and i am already hooked. From the first beat of the intro, there are high hopes of a great album and Cam'ron delivers with stunning consequences. I wasn't too impressed with the over hyped "oh boy" but there is so many good songs on this album that you can forgive him. Easily the best song on "Come home with me" is "Welcome to New York City." Using a powerfully raw hip-hop beat, amazingly emotional lyrics and a guest appearance from one of the worlds leading rappers, it is a sure hit. It leads on to another brilliant song "Hey Ma." The perfect song to dance to at parties with a chorus that even the most negative of critics couldn't help but sing along to. Should you buy this album? Without a doubt, a definite yes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good album from Cam'ron worth getting 26 May 2002
By JL
Format:Audio CD
I've been a fan of killa cam since his debut album and hes one of my favorite rappers. He hasn't sold as much as he should have but this album should change that with the debut single Oh Boy which is good track. Theres more than that song like Welcome To New York, Losin Weight part 2, plus more its not a classic album but its a good album from Cam'ron as usual so go and get it but will it bring him the sales he deserves?

5.0 out of 5 stars CAM'RON BACK WITH FIRE!!!!!!!! 24 May 2002
Format:Audio CD
As one of the latest additions to the Roc-a-Fella Records stable Cam'ron had to come back with a bang. He has! His change of label is a change of direction now focused on the music this album is packed with top tunes. The two singles 'Oh Boy' and the spine tingling 'The Roc' featuring Memphis Bleek and Beaine Sigel are brilliant as is every track on the album. Good hard street beats and some brilliant flows from the Harlem man it truly is a must have! The rhymes, the production, the guest appearences are simply amazing you wont find a better hip hop album this year!!! GET IT NOW!

2.0 out of 5 stars a huge pile of pants. 17 Oct 2003
Format:Audio CD
My first experience of Cam'ron was his amazing smash hit 'Oh Boy', I was impressed by his fresh sound that i instantly bought the album.
Being a huge fan of rap i was keen to hear his collaboration with Jay Z and eager to hear his album talent. Instead I found myself wincing at the childishness of Cam'ron's lyrics, his lack of rhyming skill and his obvious inability to produce anything new and innovative.
Save your cash, buy the single.
