Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Daisy is a lovely duckling. But she does have a problem staying close to Mama Duck during their watery wanderings. "Come along, Daisy!" is the refrain of this simple, engaging picture book, as Mum tries to keep her distracted daughter under her wing: "But Daisy was bouncing on the lily pads." After all, Daisy has other fish to spy ... and frogs to play with. When "something big" stirs beneath her, and something screeches in the sky above, however, the dilly-dallying duckling hides in the reeds, shivering. What could that scary reed rustling be? Young children will be delighted to discover it's only Mama Duck, once again asking her Daisy to come along. Jane Simmons' bold, bright illustrations are not only adorable, they are artfully composed. Youngsters ages 3 and older will be charmed and comforted by this sweet read-aloud about a mother's gentle protection. (Baby to under 5). - -Karin Snelson, Amazon.com

Daisy the young duckling is out and about with mother duck. Seeing many exciting things she goes astray and has exciting adventures with fish, butterflies, dragonflies, and a friendly frog. She also has a brush with danger when a large pike swims underneath, and an eagle screeches in the sky above. A magnificiant build up of suspense as Daisy hears a creature getting closer, and closer, and CLOSER. But its OK- its only Mamma Duck. A truly wonderful book that is greatly enjoyed by our 1 year old daughter time after time

At first glance, the Daisy stories appear too simple and the fabulous artwork would seem to appeal more to grown-ups. However, read them once to your children and you'll realise the lure of Daisy's world! My daughter (now 2, reading Daisy since 1) can't get enough Daisy, such that we've had to expand into other Jane Simmons stuff like Ebb and Flo!

Come on Daisy is a book that can be appreciated at many levels.

The simplicity of the story makes it a good book to read to the very young especially as it contains a lot of onomatopoeia, which make reading it aloud to children fun. My eight week old baby really enjoys this book already as the words sound good. The words are simple to read and printed in a good clear large type so this would also make a good story for children learning to read.

The illustrations are exquisite. They are bright and cheerful yet contain a lot of detail. 'Daisy' appears in all of the pictures so this book could also be used as an exercise in finding daisy. The detail in the illustrations allow the book to be used both as a story and a picture book.

This book is very versatile and is suitable both as a book to read aloud to very small children and for early readers to read alone.
