Product Description

CD Description

* Every songwriter needs his muse and in 1969 a prolific partnership combining an American songwriter with a Brit girl vocalist scaled the UK pop charts with a string of outrageously catchy singles.

* Kenny Young, the pen behind The Drifters' `Under The Boardwalk' and Reparata and the Delrons' `Captain Of Your Ship' hooked up with Clodagh Rodgers and a hit making team was born.

* Kenny turned Ballymena born Clodagh's Northern Irish luck around transforming her into a walking one woman girl group with `Come Back And Shake Me' , `Goodnight Midnight' and `Biljo' - brilliant bubble gum pop with catchy choruses featuring soaring vocals, heavy brass, bass and the fuzziest of guitars.

* `Come Back And Shake Me - The Kenny Young Years' shuns the cover version fillers typical of the time and compiles all of Clodagh's recorded highs with Young. Culled from A sides, B sides and three RCA albums she recorded with him between 1969-1971 - together with 'Give Me Just A Little More Line' a rare Rodgers and Young single recorded under the name Moonshine.

* This compilation follows her musical journey all the way to Dublin where Clodagh represented the UK in hot pants at the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest performing Eurotrash smash on a string, `Jack In The Box'.

* Come back and hear Clodagh and Kenny's hit making years once again presented for the first time in this unique way.

By C. J. Walker VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
This is a most welcome release, about 16 years since THE MASTERS and comes with a very informative booklet.I had not heard the "Moonshine" track before and as I havent owned a record player for over 15 years, have not heard some of these tracks for a long time. These tracks come from Clogagh's first three LPs and its great to hear them again,Kenny Young wrote many fine songs and Clodagh does them justice showing what a great voice she has.I have knocked off 1 star as two tracks are missing that Kenny wrote "Night Games" and "Nayli nayli get me down to Washington" which is strange to
not to include these.
I hope this will open the door to more releases from this lovely lady especially the Polydor recordings which were a highlight of Clodagh's career.
In the meantime this will do very nicely,my fave track is WOLF which when it was released as a single in 1970 did'nt chart,it was recorded in the states and one of the best songs on this set.
Welcome back Clodagh.

A Welcome Release 27 Feb 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Until now there have been two Clodagh Rodgers cd's, one in 1996 and another in 1997 so this new RPM release is long overdue and very welcome.

At last we have some tracks new to cd, Wolf and Just A Little More Line, that 45 was credited to Moonshine but we all knew it was Clodagh's distinctive voice - listen out for her little Dusty-ism's at the end or in this case her Clodagh-ism's!

Clodagh Rodgers onstage was a real surprise as her voice was much more powerful than you imagined from her records, Clodagh is capable of delivering big ballads as well as sugary pop numbers, just listen to Clodagh's take on Everbody Go Home The Party's Over.

I hope we don't have to wait long for more Clodagh on cd, she released a fine album and several singles for Polydor and also some nice 45's on PRT Records, however since then the records seem to have stopped. You are missed from the music scene Clodagh!

What a great surprise to find this recent release of Clodagh's early recordings on RCA.

Every single release from Come Back & Shake Me to Lady Love Bug on one CD for the first time. (Come Back & Shake Me, Goodnight Midnight, Biljo, Everybody Go Home, Wolf, Jack In The Box and Lady Love Bug).
All the 'B' sides ... just listen to the superb voice on 'I Am A Fantasy'. My friends were into either Motown or Heavy Rock music in the late sixties but I adhored the vocal harmonies of the lovely Irish beauty Clodagh.

Never have I heard such a strong voice such as Clodagh's with a sexy image to match. Superb album tracks appear like 'Up Down' from the'Midnight Clodagh' album, 'Like A Humble Bunny' from the album 'Rodgers and Heart'. One of the Eurovision songs 'Wind of Change'

Just listen to Clodagh's versions of 'Together' (a minor hit for Sandie Shaw) and 'Captain of Your Ship'... wow !! Never have I heard such a 'funky' version of 'Stand By Your Man'. This should have been released as a single.

Clodagh's other RCA singles appear on the CD 'You Are My Music' which features the more sophisticated recordings such as 'It's Different Now' and 'That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be'. Buy both of these CD's and you will have a collection of music by one of the most underrated UK female singers of the late sixties. Vocal harmonies feature Clodagh's sister Lavinia. Early ABBA sounds ??

Enjoy
