Product Description

Product Description

'Then, the morning after I proposed, Lindsey outlined the unusual wedding list she had dreamt up: two one-way train tickets to Siberia, whale watching in New Zealand, tango lessons in Buenos Aires...'

So begins Peter and Lindsey's 64,000 mile honeymoon from Edinburgh to Glasgow via Russia, Asia, South America and Alaska. This compelling and witty travelogue provides an intriguing insight into the people and places encountered on their extraordinary journey, as well as a humorous account of the highs and lows of life on the road.

A minimum of 50% of proceeds will be donated to three charities Peter and Lindsey came across along the way, namely Mines Advisory Group, Christina Noble Children's Foundation and Emilie's Charities.

You begin this book reading about two strangers travelling around the world on their honeymoon and you end it feeling like you've made two life long friends. This book is a great travel companion or just a relaxing sunday morning escape and I will read it again (always a sign of a good book). To add to the witty and thought provoking writing the author Peter Burdon is donating at least 50% of the royalties to 3 charities that they came across on their travels. Whichever way you look at it, buying this book is a win win. Happy reading.

Firstly, I must say that I seldom read travel literature and only stumbled across this little gem when it was recommended to me by a friend. I am very happy that they chose to do so as this compilation of stories and musings are insightful, witty and well written. You can tell that the author has really put care and attention into crafting each story and all in all it makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I have no reservations in recommending this book to all. Excellent stuff!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this travel-book-with-a-difference. It was well observed, nicely wry and ironic without being over the top. Well worth reading

Difficult to follow
This story did not flow well, the paragraphs did not seem to connect. The narrative itself wasa fairly dull; more like a first draft than a finished version.

Coming up short on a dream trip
I so wanted to like this book. Surely many people harbour a desire to "see the sun fall where it used to rise, buy the ticket, spend the lot" and make this sort of journey. Read more
