Somehow, the 70's gem "Come and Get Your Love" avoided me until I saw GOTG- I must say, I do love going to the cinema and hearing a great song at such a loud volume, which, if duplicated at home, would have your neighbours taking an ASBO out against you. I was only familiar with the "Witch Queen of New Orleans" (the song, not the lady, although I am sure she makes lovely sandwiches) and this song was a revelation. Add it to your collection, you won't be sorry

HASH(0x946cd678) out of 5 stars Finally On CD! 21 Aug. 2014
By Janet Chandler - Published on Amazon.com

For the first time ever the album "Come & Get Your Redbone" by Redbone has been released on CD! This record was released as a double vinyl album back in 1975. It contains most of the big hits for the group from their first five albums including their self titled debut album "Redbone" through to "Wovoka" and covers the time period from 1969 to 1975, their most successful period musically. I say most of their hit songs are on here but not all. Of course none of their best songs recorded after 1975 would be on here but even some of their best songs before '75 are not here either. There are only one song from their debut album on here "Niki Hokey", the most well know of Redbone's songs from that album, but I am surprised there are just the one song from that album. I know the record didn't do extremely well in sales but I always felt it was underrated by many people and had quite a few excellent songs that could have been included in this greatest hits collection including "Prehistoric Rhythm" and maybe "Promise I Won't Let It Show". The other omission from this greatest hits is the controversial "We Were All Wounded At Wounded Knee". The song was actually a big hit in Europe for the group but in the U.S. radio stations would not play the song because what it was about. It dealt with the massacre of a camp of Native-Americans by the 7th Calvary back in 1890 at Wounded Knee. Logically I guess because this album was issued in the U.S. they would not include that song because of the controversy it created. Still after all these years you would think the controversy of the song would have died down and they could have included this song on the collection.

Still all in all this is a pretty good collection of hits by Redbone. I am surprised it took this long to release it out on CD but at least it now is. One final note if you are looking for a greatest hits album by Redbone that does include "We Were All Wounded At Wounded Knee" you can find it on "The Very Best Of Redbone". The problem with that CD is it was only released in Europe so it is a little hard to find and if can be found can be a bit pricey. Even with the omission of that song from this album this is still a very good greatest hits collection to get of one of the most unique rock there ever was.

HASH(0x93dbf690) out of 5 stars Gift for young adult 8 Jan. 2015

This was a gift for my young adult daughter, "Come and Get Your Love" was a favorite song and she loved the rest of the CD. This was most likely one of two Redbone albums/CDs ever published, the other songs are just as up-beat as "Come and Get Your Love."
She really likes it!!! Good hit!!
