5.0 out of 5 stars Great, 31 Mar 2007

This review is from: In a Coma: 1995-2005 (Audio CD)
A fantastic compilation from the lesser known (in the UK) Matthew Good. A collection of some (not all) of his best works and, as mentioned by other reviewers, a great place to start for anyone wanting to give the guy a chance. The additional stuff is also excellent and has reworkings of old songs which, contrary to what some think, were already brilliant. The acoustic version of the addictive "Hello Timebomb" for example, (the epic original being found on Matthew Good Band's best selling album "Beautiful Midnight") while lacking the fist-in-the-air anthemic vibe of the original recording, gains a gentle reflective feeling. I always enjoy hearing new interpretations of great songs, and the acoustic songs on this album are no dissapointment. You really should listen to Matthew Good if you havn't already, there are no words to describe how intense his music is. I listen to his tracks and I have no idea why this guy isn't huge; do yourself a favour, get involved, check him out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sell everything else - you must own this album, 25 Sep 2005
This review is from: In a Coma: 1995-2005 (Audio CD)
This is a Matthew Good compilation. If you have yet to experience Mr. Good then this is as good a place to start as any (he is sort of indie-rock with thought provoking lyrics). Whilst disc 1 contains no tracks from my favourtie album of his (The Audio Of Being), there are acoustic versions on disc 2 (who can forget Advertising On Police Cars). Also on disc 2 we have the otherwise unavailable Loser Anthems album and the Lo-Fi b-sides. If that is not enough then it will please you to note that the third disc contains all of the MGB and solo videos with optional commentary. If you are a British Matthew Good fan this is an essential purchase. If you are not a British Matthew Good fan then you soon will be after purchaing this album as well as having all of "The Audio Of Being" to look forward to purchasing later. Hell, purchase it now. I almost feel jealous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the DVD version, 21 Jun 2006
This review is from: In a Coma: 1995-2005 (Audio CD)
This album is truly fantastic, as a Matthew Good fan hearing the alternative versions on the second disk is interesting. The style change also improves some of the tracks that where previoulsy not very good (Hello time bomb) and turns very good tracks into fantastic tracks (Tripoli).

When buying make sure you get the version with both CD's and the DVD as some versions (not sure on this one - I got the import) don't include them and you lose some of the best music Mr. Good has ever written. The second CD also contains "loser anthems" which was a hard to find record until recently.

A solid introdroduction to his music for people who want to give him a chance and for confirmed fans the second disk's 'rooms' section is a great variation on what they already know.
