I saw this band about 1990(ish).
I have to say it has to be one of the best memories I ever have of a live gig. I later got this album and played it until the cassette broke.
"Ride On " is a favourite track of mine and I think "Requiem for the Innocent" is a brilliant contrast to the faster paced tracks.the arrangment of instruments is very clever and exciting.
If you love fast, hard hitting music you will love this album. It's a credit to the band and if you want to hear a band that were the best irish band ever... buy it.

in the late eighties/early nineties,toss the feathers were manchesters premier folk group,then again they probably still are.columbus eclipse was toss the feathers first cd album,and it still stands the test of time for great music,great songs like highwayman,ride on and requiem for the innocent,with fantastic instrumentals like colombus eclipse and intoxicated leprechaun,showing how good this band could play great irish traditional folk music.every time i hear michael goldrick on a kate rusby album,i think of toss the feathers.
as the song goes ,the crack was 90 in the isle of man,its not,it,s every time you play this album.if you like bands like the pogues,great big sea and christy moore,buy this album,you will love it.
