5.0 out of 5 stars Dogs on Heat 18 Jun 2010
By Dr. Delvis Memphistopheles TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Forget about the danger and think of the fun; a teenage revolution was bawwnnn- proclaimed Ronnie.

The iron grip Edgar J Hoover playing Mary, throttled middlebrow life into submission. Meanwhile in the haystacks, in the loins of young people something stirred. Emerging from WW2 and ten years of depression, tumbleweed teenagers stumbled into the blinding white light of a technicolour world. The soundtrack to the Land of Teenrage Oz, Columbia records resurrects the pipes of pan. Way before Prog, fumbling fingered rock stifled the Dyonisian world of Pan with bland vanilla meaning, kids jumped jived and banged pots with pans without a thought in their heads.

Collected and coraled rockabilly princes and princesses eulogic sleeze notes herald one big huge hunk of roaring party kling klang. Ronnie Self proclaims to his local bop, the joys of sniffin the opposite sex, one big dawwg on heat, a low down companion to Elvis. Hurricane; a fast flipper for bop pill kids. Carl lets loose with a perenial fave as the Rio De Rosa Flows, banging the groove for a long cool drive with wind blowing the ducktail in a smooth luxurious jour-neee. The precocious Collins kidz knock out the party tunes in less sybillant chimes, letting us know about the joys of chicken.

Before back on track for the Tenessee toddy, an ode to the curvature of the female southern form. Johnny Horton carouses himself to the type of woman he needs, a pretty one. Link gets it all down low to basic scuzzing on the dancefloor with his dirrrrtyy sounds of New Studio Blues.

Still rocking from the shocking; body fluids leak as Ronnie Self, the white Richard screams his guts to a local goddess whilst sharp spikes of electric guitar slither up and down his intended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bob Brunton UK 5 Aug 2003

This is a great Rockabilly CD highly recomended.
There's one problem and that is it's been renamed(Columbia Rockabilly Vol 1). It was formaly packaged as "Aint I'm A Dog"
Columbia CD 499670 witch is still avalible.
If the track listings were listed above I may not now have two copies. But then again one might wear out!
It is more than a posibility that Columbia Rockabily Vol 2 is the same as "Wistle Bait" a CD on the Columbia/Epic/Legacy lable
No: CK 62173. So a little caution required.
I would hasten to add that on the back of Columbia Rockabilly Vol 1,it does state quite clearly this CD was "Aint I'm A Dog" CD,something you would easy pick upon if brousing in a shop, but not so when ordering off the net. As I stated earlier Track listings are a great help when buying off the net.
But don't let this little quible detract you from buying this great CD. Remember either of them will do!
Best Wishes
Bob Brunton
