It appears to be so puffy in Picture. But in reality its nothing but a thin piece of rain coat. Total disappointment.

It pays to listen. 14 Mar 2012
    Colour Name:Columbia Navy|Size Name:X-Large
I like to research what I am buying as you cannot examine an item over the net.

This should be a decent piece of kit given the technology put into it.

Another reviewer, Gokul, wrote "its nothing but a thin piece of rain coat" and I thought, well that is what it meant to be.

Sorry I did not listen to you Gokul, I now know what you mean.

This feels very low quality: it is thin, "plasticky" and clammy as soon as you put it on.

I have a Tres Tex coat which is nice and breathable yet keeps me dry at 5000mm water resistance and 5000mvp. At the other end of the scale, I have a Gore Tex jacket at 20000mm and 15000mvp. The Tres Tex should be not very breathable and not very waterproof but most people reckon it keeps them dry in heavy rain for a few hours and it certainly does not feel clammy. The Gore Tex does in fact feel slightly clammy at first but I can dip my arm in water and it stays dry.

This Omni Tech coat should sit in the middle at 10000mm but, for the discomfort of the clamminess, I would prefer to go with one of my other coats as both feel more comfortable.

A good 5000mm coat seems to be enough for most people.

Previous reviews don't rate this jacket very highly. I have to disagree.

I bought this for a walking holiday in the Lake District. Paid around £30 on Amazon. I have to say it was reliably waterproof in some prolonged severe weather and whilst not completely breathable it did an ok job - certainly better than some I have had in the past - and I tend to run hot when walking. For 'around town' use alone it would be hard to fault. And it looks quite decent and is not 'crisp packet' rustley when you walk.

In synopsis, it's a shell jacket. It is waterproof. It is windproof. It dries quickly after it has been soaked by rain. It does breathe up to a point. It WON'T keep you warm on it's own as it's a layering piece and you need to wear a fleece underneath for warmth.
