I followed Colosseum for the full three years of their existence and still have all the vinyl albums, so what a revelation to see actual footage of a great band, performing their own style of music in a more comfortable and professional manner. They have improved with age like a good wine.
This DVD has all their best tracks with my favourite being Lost Angeles which exploits Chris Farlowe's voice to the full. I also enjoyed the fun he had with Stormy Monday Blues.
I had almost forgotten how good they were as individual musicians, especially Clem on guitar, he belongs up there with the best.
I remember seeing Dick Heckstall-Smith with Barbara Thompson in a pub in Bath in 1971 playing some astounding jazz.
When Chris Farlowe joined the band I had mixed feelings as the direction did change a little, but he is a class act and belongs with the band. He is without doubt one of the best white soul/blues singers around.
A great DVD for Colosseum fans and also for anyone interested in a jazz/rock fusion of a very unique style.
