A genuine treat - and not even a 'one-off'. (Try Nordine's 'Word Jazz' for a similar use of poetry set against subtle jazz.) The world has changed and we rarely hear this kind of thought-provoking, almost bizarre poetry anymore. It makes you see the world in different ways and that alone is reason enough to at least give the samples a try.

Word Jazz?

Word Jazz.

Trust me. This CD is one you will treasure. A bargain at this or any price. File between Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" and William Shatner's "Transformed Man". For all the boys and girls whose dreams are filled with unfinished extracts from Brian Wilson's legendary "Dumb Angel" sessions, here is something to please.

This album exhibits certain innocence and sugary charm only possible for the 60's. Certainly it's cringing in a 'yeah man' way but it also has something less obvious that makes it quite charming.
