An Excellent Book 21 May 2014
By Charles R. Layne - Published on
Format: Paperback
I had the good fortune to meet the author and chat with her before knowing she had written a book. During our chat (we were at at a local elementary school fiesta day) she told me about her book; describing it to me as her life story. I was intrigued and she asked if I wanted to buy a copy. I said yes and she returned to her car and brought me back an autographed copy. I did not start reading it for a week or so; I read many books. I have now read about one-third of the book and I am astounded. It is an excellent book, well written, an intriguing mixture of history, relationships, characters and how she fitted into all of that. This is a must read for anyone who appreciates a well done and well written book about a very significant period in our history.
The Courageous truth of the past, healing for today 28 Mar. 2014
By Vernon Stokay - Published on
Format: Paperback
It’s beyond simple story telling, honesty on a level so incredible and so courageous. It addresses the all too familiar core of poverty and abuse in the lives of many individuals and communities. Thought the telling of this story we come to understand the cyclical path of internalized oppression. We come to the realization that our present day pains come from somewhere. Authentic truth like Colored Cold is a beautiful example of a path in which we see a mirror our past experiences bringing about understanding and healing into our daily existence.
