As a beginner watercolourist, rapidly becoming discouraged with my efforts, this book was a magnificent find! A combination of basic colour theory and excellent excercises. I have now produced pictures I can be proud of, simply by completing some of the easy-to follow projects, which cover everything from landscapes, flowers and people to "a rusty pot" Jan Kunz writes for both beginners and the more experienced painter but in a style which suits both. If you want to give watercolour a go but don't know where to start, or if you've been painting a while and feel you're in a rut this could be the book for you! P.S. the rest of the series is worth a look too.

Color Concepts Made Easy 3 Mar 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I love Jan Kunz's style of watercolor painting, therefore, I bought the book just out of curiosity. I was totally wrapped in the book especially the demonstrations that are included in the book. Jan makes the color based concepts of hue, value and intensity so CLEAR that my paintings have shown new life since I completed her demonstrations. My shadows and light effects show so much more power and realism. I will definitely buy all of her books. Using this book for developing my skills seemed like Jan was right over my shoulder cheering me on to better and more impressive paintings.

I found this book to be very helpful and reasonably priced. It is written for the beginner and intermediate, and is very concise. Good at many levels
Great for beginners 8 Nov 2010

I am in a 'beginning' watercolor class. I purchased another instruction book, but I kept borrowing this one from one of my classmates. It has several 'step-by-step' exercises that are very helpful, and the images are larger so you can copy them and use for practice.
