I've been invited by those nice folks at Amazon to submit a review of a toner cartridge I recently ordered (and received). Always willing to oblige, here goes.
The toner cartridge arrived in a really nice cardboard box with HP emblazoned on it on vivid, primary colours. The colours were really bright, and they cheered up my day no end as, when it arrived, it was raining.
The cartridge, when unpacked, was made of black plastic. This was clever of the suppliers, because it matches the rest of its siblings in the printer's cartridge bay. I also found the cartridge contained a healthy quantity of black toner. As that was what I'd ordered several days previously, this was another pleasant surprise along with finding that it also fitted into the printer at the first attempt which, given that I'm an IT systems techie by profession, equates to walking on water and raising the dead in the instant miracle stakes. I've christened the new cartridge 'Lazarus'.
On firing up the printer and sending it a test page to munch on, the new cartridge obligingly produced lots of black text. In this respect it was very much like the old one it replaced - perhaps I should have expected some amazing advance in technolofy in the intervening period (9 months of heavy use) but, try as I might, I couldn't find any back doors, secret compartments or hackable source code with which to make the cartridge do anything other than feed black toner onto my A4 paper stock. And that's it really ..............
So, to summarise, this toner cartridge was exactly that - a standard, boring, out-of-the-box toner cartridge. It didn't play tunes or receive texts nor, despite extensive testing, (a quick lick actually) did it taste of anything other than a black plastic cartridge-thing. Being a genuine HP product, of course, it performs flawlessly and is about as exciting as a day-old kipper ............ possibly why writing a review for it has a similar, kipperish, effect on my nonexistent adrenaline levels.
So, by all means go out and buy one. It'll do exactly what it says on the box and arrive pretty toute suite - and you'll just love the colours. ;-)
