I used this extraordinary book as an overview, study-guide and companion to physiology.
"Color Atlas of Physiology" is concise and to the point, featuring some of the best, most descriptive illustrations of biochemical and physiological processes I have yet seen. The format - one page of illustrations alongside one page of brief explanatory texts - makes it perfect as an introduction to physiology and for reviewing the subject before an exam.
As the authors remark, there is not enough detail in this 300-page-book for it to serve as a primary source for most students, but I found it an invaluable help in my studies of physiology. The subject is extensive, and many textbooks leave the student floundering in a wealth of detail. "Color Atlas of Physiology" does the opposite, presenting the subject of physiology as a series of interconnected processes.
I warmly recommend this book to all and any students of physiology.

As a student, I find this book invaluble around exam time. It has a concise and clear presentation, fantastic illustrations and good index, so that you can find everything just when you need it. Students, don't be fooled by its size, it's the best pre-clinical investment you'll make.

This small book contains a wealth of information across the board of physiology. Each 2 page spread combines concise text with diagrams to convey a few principles. Relevant pathological correlations are mentioned too. Despite its small size, and breadth of content, the depth is also excellent.
I believe only the most advanced physiologists would have more to ask of this book.
As a medical student this is a bible.

This book is a must for any healthcare/medical/sports orientated students or practioners!! It's pretty old but written in such a great way, one side of the book is all writing and on the other side of every page is just diagrams of what is being discussed. I got mine second hand and really cheap...so worth it!!
