Collision Course is a 2 disc set that seamlessly melds the music of Jay-Z with Linkin Park. An interesting combination...... but it works.

CD: The first thing you will notice is just how brief it is at only 21 minutes. However, this really is quality over quantity because the tracks blend seamlessly into one another whilst being notably varied.

1. Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You

The first 30 seconds are crap but then the guitar and beats kick in and suddenly we have a good song (and album) on our hands.

2. Big Pimpin'/Papercut

A lot more hip-hop than rock - no guitars for the Linkin Park fans out there. This is the weakest track on the CD but still good. Jay-Z really picks this track up in the second verse when his rapping kicks in.

3. Jigga What/Faint

A brilliant track that builds up into an all-out rock monster by the end. I love the way this song develops from a strong hip-hop vibe at the start to the all-out rock at the end. This is almost as good as Numb/Encore and a definite highlight of the CD.

4. Numb/Encore

The best track on the album? Well, this probably just edges it over Jigga What/Faint but it's a very close call. Some of you might recognise this from the Miami Vice film. I think this is the most emotive song on the CD and is great from start to finish.

5. IZZO/In The End

Back to the hip-hop feel of track 2 with no hint of rock on this one. A nice little track that has the most upbeat sound on the CD.

6. Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer

The heaviest track on the CD - Jay-Z rapping (mostly 99 Problems) to Linkin Park's heavy riffs and with Chester Bennington finishing the song off with a classic Linkin Park chorus.

DVD: A 45 minute documentary that contains the entire live performance of the 6 songs. It's quite enjoyable and interesting to watch how the album came together. Well worth watching but not as long as I thought it would be.

Overall: This is a surprisingly good album. I didn't expect it to be so good and I like every track. The only real downside is that it is so short, hence only 4 stars instead of 5. Definitely worth getting but make sure you don't pay too much for it, simply because it is so short.

The purpose in living 28 Jan 2007
Format:Audio CD
ive always loved linkin park from the start and knowing that they where going to release an album with Jay - Z i thought im going to either love or hate this album. everything that they have done on this album is amazing, the lyrics and music from both artists mixed into one was like god had asked what type of music i would like and i couldn't really pin point it out and explain so then he would say "i'll see what i can do" then coming back 10 min later and saying "have a listen to this" i would then give him a strong firm handshake and tell him i now know the purpose of life. only bad thing about this is album is that they need more tracks, it seems god was slightly busy that weekend.

The songs that are there are really awesome, i was a real fan of Linkin Park, and its surprising how well Jay Z's music gels with theres. The problem is the album is so short - its only six songs. I know its quality not quantity that counts but while enjoying the songs that are there i couldnt help but feel a little cheated when after 21 minutes 18 seconds the album was finished. In summary, a really good although far too brief album.
