Good shore guide 25 Feb 2009
By Amy
Format:Paperback
This is a good shore guide for anyone professional or amateur. My university uses this book widely for all kinds of field studies. I would not agree with the previous comment as I have used my copy many a time and it is still in relatively good condition as are many of the heavily used copies at my uni. The main downside of it is the inaccuracy of the drawings and colors which is partly due to the variations of the species in nature. Despite this downfall it is still the best of it's kind and a brilliant general ID guide.

Shame it's out of print 20 April 2012

If you ever see a copy of this book in a shop, or here, for less than £10, buy it!

It's an excellent graphic guide with information on key features, distribution, life cycles etc, on most flora and fauna you could expect to find on the seashore, and then some. It was one of my degrees recommended reading, I still have and treasure my copy. Now working at the university that I studied in, we have to keep a close eye on our remaining copies of this book, as it's so good it tends to "go missing"!

This is a great guide for the shore walker - gatherer, with illustrations of most things you find on the shore, if it is not in here then it is very rare to our shores. Worth every penny, only down side is that it will get worn down very quickly through use!
