Review

"Taste in guide books can be a very personal thing, but few serious boaters will venture out without a Nicholson's Guide. There is a wealth of information that even the most experienced cannot hope to keep abreast of, and the guides are welcome valuable for cyclists and walkers too." The Inland Waterways Association.

4.0 out of 5 stars experimentel canal boater 14 Aug 2010
By al
Format:Spiral-bound|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book before this year's trip on the Kenneth and Avon canal. Contains all the information which a boater needs to be able to plan and travel on the canal. This includes location of locks, winding holes, pump out locations etc. It also contains useful information about things to see on the way, villages, pubs, and places. Excellent book if you want the hard facts

5.0 out of 5 stars Collins Waterways Guides are GREAT 30 July 2010
By Morgi
Format:Spiral-bound
Collins Waterways Guide 7 is the second of their waterways guides I have bought, and in my oppinion they are invaluable when you are on a narrow boat holiday. They are full of usfull information, i.e. where to find restaurants, shops, PUBS, boat yards, morrings, PUBS, marinas, PUBS; you get the point. you also get lots of info on the areas you pass through, points of interest, navigational addvice, walking and cycling, history, nearby towns and citys. Even if you arn't on a boating holiday, the books make an interesting read, and I could spend hours just looking at the maps alone.
The first book I bought was for our first ever narrow boat holliday on the Shropshire Union and Llangollen canalls; without it we would have been totaly lost. For anybody contemplating a boating holiday I say, get the appropriate book for the holiday you are thinking of; it will fire you up. Brilliant!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars 2009 Edition 6 Oct 2009
Format:Spiral-bound|Amazon Verified Purchase
Up to usual high standards although the recesion and rapidly declining number of pubs will render it increasingly vulnerable to error as soon as it's published, sadly. For canal users this remains a 'must have', however.
