Tree identification books come in the plenty but this is designed better than all i have into contact with so far.
Why? Well this book is split into colour-coded sections, to seperate needles, scaly leaves, broadleaved alternate, broadleaved opposite, and leaflets. Which is great for a begginner who may not know the family of the tree they are viewing let alone the individual specie.
The book tells you the information of each tree individually in clear headed sections. They cover, leaf size/colour, fruit/seed, bark, overall height in this country (and elsewhere), distribution.
Photographs are used instead of drawings, which to myself makes more sense.

There is other pages dedicated to terminology and more. This is a pocket book, a constant reference even for seasoned arboriculturalists, a real MUST BUY.

A very good book 11 Jan 2010
By Alex
Bought for the 4 year old in response to his interest in trees and their identification. Excellent book for that purpose and beyond. A good guide for both children and adults. Illustrations are of very good quality, and classification is worked out well. Descriptions are concise but enough for the general audience. Much recommended.

Could see the wood... 16 Nov 2009
Bought at same time as Collins' mushroom equivalent. Both helped plug a huge hole in my knowledge. Purchase based on already having, and liking, collins bird book. Good photos, good info, print a bit small for my elderly eyes but that's how it can be small enough to fit in your pocket.
