By A Customer
This review is from: Collins Learn to Paint - Gardens in Watercolour (Paperback)
Sharon Finmark begins this book with explanations about the different types of watercolour paper and other equipment. She devotes a chapter to colour, where she discusses primaries and secondaries, complementaries, neutrals, harmonious colours and colour mixing.

Basic watercolour techniques are explained simply with useful illustrations. This is followed with typical flower and tree shapes.

The effect of light on colour, tone and contrast is also explained, as is a brief section on composition and subject matter. Useful tips are provided throughout these early chapters.

Sharon Finmark then provides four helpful staged demonstrations of different types of gardens.

As the title suggests, this is a book about gardens rather than individual flowers and includes many of Sharon Finmark's lively, colourful paintings.
