Quite a handy little reference book for the tarot student. Some nice card interpretations and spreads. Would recommend it to the novice reader. What a gem! :)

It's just what the title says, a good Marseille reference text. I bought the first edition which is surprisingly well bound, with a resilient plastic-coated paperback cover, and will stand up to lots of wear or travel. This is a useful text for those who are interested in the TdM, but aren't looking to read 400 pages or the usual writers. If you are looking for discussion of chart details, look elsewhere. If you want a great little guide and quick reference to TdM, you won't be disappointed.

This tarot book is the one I find myself turning to on a regular basis. It is small enough to fit into the bag with the cards and has a comprehensive coverage of topics including a short history, numerology, significator cards, major and minor arcana, symbology and spreads. It incorporates chracteristics attributed by suit: fire, water etc. as well as age, gender, feminine, masculine, and astrological sign. I have literally dozens of tarot books and this one does not contradict any of the interpretations for general meanings of the cards; allows you to interpret "between the lines" of the general meanings but still hit the "gist" of the cards. One very useful element of the interpretation is to id in 2-3 words the "key theme" of the card as well as a key theme if the card is reversed (if you use reversals). This helps greatly with remembering a cards intent as you can then string the key elements together to get a framework for an overall comprehensive spread interpretation. Because it is so small, it gets used quite often as it is literally taken with me and the cards everywhere. Buy this used if you have to; but it's a workhorse-keeper!

i'm new to tarot reading but i couldn't put this one down. it was interesting and detailed but not big and overwhelming. it's so small you could take it anywhere. i wasn't intimidated by it and it made me want to learn more. the descriptions are in-depth and not fluffy but there are also key words to help you get it. it talks about meaning of the cards being upright and reversed(which i understand some people don't bother with). you won't be sorry to have this one in your collection.
